Established in 1897 the Fremantle, or Freo Markets (Freo Markets) are a great place to have a wander. The entrance above leads into 'The Shed' an area filled with fresh fruit and veg and if you saw yesterdays post many more exotic and interesting foodstuffs, like these 'Coffin Bay' oysters, slightly offputting name, but I'm sure delicious.....
The entrance from the other side leads into The Hall where you will find clothes, jewellery, candles, music and pretty much every kind of thing you'd expect to see at a big market, I'm almost 100% sure that no one would leave these markets without finding something to pique their interest.....!
un vrai marché a l’européenne, il semble tres beau et j'aimerais bien les huitres ;)
ReplyDeleteMy friend said Coffin bay has wonderful seashore. I am also pretty sure delicious.
ReplyDeleteThis looks very much like our so-called Flea Markets. I'd spend most of the time amidst the fruits and veggies!
ReplyDeleteFreemantle was in a tv show last night. I have not been there. I looked like a great pedestrian friendly town.
ReplyDeleteSome blogs you visit because the bloggers are sweet and get few visits.
ReplyDeleteSome you visit because they are popular and you can meet new friends.
Some like this one, are just places I WANT to come and hang. You cool, Sis-

Wonderful shots Grace.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely take a look at this market. It reminds me a lot of the St Lawrence Market here. It's indoors but with lots of stuff to see. You got some nice shots too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place to do some shopping, but it looks like you could get lost if you're not careful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun - wish i was there!
ReplyDeleteI love this kind of market where we find so many varieties of things. In Brazil we have many of them. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRoberto, Rio de Janeiro
They're great markets.
ReplyDeleteUnless, of course, they actually kill you. The price alone might make me swoon.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the kind of place you could spend all day and leave happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments.
ReplyDeleteI could probably spend a whole entire day at that market. It reminds me of the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto. So much to take in with all the different type of aromas. Looks like you had a good time there.
Talk soon.
What a great indoor market!
ReplyDeleteLooks like my kind of market!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of the Fremantle markets! Brings back many happy memories of my time there a couple of months ago!
ReplyDeleteWhenever we go to a new city we usually make a trip to the fruit and vegetable market. If we ever get to Perth we must make a point of visiting this wonderful spot.
ReplyDeleteThe entrance looks so small! Wonderful, I love markets!
ReplyDeleteImagine allowing a woman to wander into such a place...?
ReplyDeleteGreat place to visit Grace and despite the name love Coffin Bay Oysters!
ReplyDeleteI can spend hours here ... very interesting variety within the market ...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE me a good market!! Much to Pilchard's disgust ... I have NO doubt I'd quickly and easily find AT LEAST one thing to buy (in the first few minutes)!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is always great to visit such a extended market. You see so many beautiful food and things.
ReplyDeletei'd love to meet you there for the day. i'll treat for lunch.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lively and fun place, with something for all the family. Thanks too for reassurance about yesterday's eggs Grace ;-)

let's try both!
ReplyDeleteVery like the Reading Market in Philly and Cincinnati's Findlay Market. Oh, last nite I told ToonMan about the ostrich eggs and he said $5.99 for a dozen jumbo or $8 for one clearly the ostrich egg is a better deal!
ReplyDeleteSeen from the outside, the place is not very inviting.. But the inside is fabulous and rich of things to discover! I like such markets!
ReplyDeleteSchöner Rundgang durch den Markt.

Nice shots Perth, as for the food, anything but the oysters please!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the look inside the market.
ReplyDeletea wonderful place to browse around!
ReplyDeletehee hee...Given «Louis'» allergy to shellfish, the COFFIN Bay oysters are well-named!
