'Der Rufer' and the pink bunny!

Oyez! Oyez! Or should it be Höret! Höret! 'Intruder Alert' announces 'Der Rufer' standing in the Perth Cultural Centre. 'The Caller' created by German artist Gerhard Marcks, one of a number produced by the artist, including one erected in Berlin in 1989 shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall where 'The Caller is said to be calling 'peace', has had exclusive position here for many years, so it's understandable he might be a little put out by the appearance of a giant pink bunny on his patch :) The Brookfield Bunnies created for Fringe World by Perth artist Stormie Mills are appearing all around Perth, this is not the last time you'll see one on the blog..

A couple of quick shots below to show a few of the many entertaining folk walking around the city during Fringe. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe...p.s. took some unexpected non Fringe related shots yesterday, show you next week...

Hope you're doing well Grace, I see where you've liked something on Facebook every now and then but I had to come over and look at your Perth photography. :)

Yes, I was on a moving ferry taking the pic and was also in a huge crowd of people heading back to the mainland after an evening at the Islands.

  5. Interesting event. The Pink Bunny is rather scary and interesting clothing apparel on the last photos. I get so excited when you say Happy Thursday! and realize it's only Wednesday here:) Dang!

  7. I love The Caller sculpture. It can have all kinds of significance. And, the pink bunny is just plain cute but, those crazy outfits on the street are wonderful. I would love seeing these people walking down the street.

  13. Whimsical bunnies. Methinks also you have more weird looking people walking the streets than we do and that's saying something! :)

  15. Love the outfits on some of those people! I wouldn't mind having a much smaller version of one of those pink bunnies in my yard.

  16. The pink bunny needs a drum so it can keep going, and going, and going. Amazing group of people there Grace. I bet even I'd fit in.

  17. I would like a smaller version of this bunny for myself as well! So the boys are performers?

  18. One would have thought that trumpeters would have been more appropriate when a wall was about to fall down. I can't imagine what pink bunnies might foretell.

  19. I like der Rufer. Do you think the other one is still here in Berlin? If so, I should find it! :)

    1. PS: Der Rufer is not in Berlin, it's in Bremen. ;-)

  21. I am confused by your last two photos. I have seen men wearing skirts before but what are they wearing around their chests? A bra?

  22. I really like the big pink bunny!

  23. Interesting clothing on some of the people on the street. Wonder what the bunny or "Der Rufer" think about that.

  24. Even if it wasn't "Fringe World" time, once in a while I came across people dressed with the strangest outfits, but thankfully no one give a hoot!
    I love the Pink Bunny!

  25. “I wander through the world and cry ‘Peace, peace, peace’” is a (translated) quote froma well known poem of the Italian poet Francesco Petrarca. For what I know the original statue in Berlin is dedicated to him. Glad to know there are others around!
