This made me laugh out loud! Spotted in the window of Wendy Binks studio in Fremantle. The painting itself is brilliant, as is all of Wendy's work, but check out the tag attached, that's hilarious! The message pertaining to the hugely unpopular introduction of 'drum lines' along Perth beaches in January this year, you probably read or heard about it, it made the news big time. The decision made by our Premier, let's call him Colin :) was thankfully short lived as the State Environmental Authority strongly advised against it. Don't even get me started on Elizabeth Quay :) Hope you have a fab weekend, take care and stay safe...

Thanks for the news article link- quite enlightening. A shame there's such a reaction in the first place to sharks. I don't think the premier would like this sentiment, but it is funny!
ReplyDeleteStrangely , I'm hearing a "tadatadatada " music... brrr
ReplyDeleteThe painting is fabulous but would give me nightmares if I had it on my wall ! :o)
Have a great week-end , dear Gracie (and stay safe on the shore !)
An awesome painting indeed, but I don't think I'd want it in my apartment and certainly not my bedroom!! Thanks for the smiles and giggles as always, Grace! Hope you have a terrific, fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteNot my choice for my art but the caption is great, Grace!
ReplyDeleteHow perfect indeed. Her works is delightful too. Looks like my kind of place to roam about. Great reflection too, you really captured so much in one shot!
ReplyDeleteha ha yes, I've just read the article, very good, well spotted Grace

I have wondered about local attitudes to what he did. I wonder no longer.
ReplyDeleteNice painting, nice caption, but I won't be swimming in the ocean.
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot! I love your second shot, I really feel like that shark is coming at me!
ReplyDeleteI agree with William. It is funny!
ReplyDelete:-)
ReplyDeleteWell spotted Grace, it's put me off ever swimming again! Love the reflection on the top half, it makes the bottom half as if it's under water.
ReplyDeleteNeat painting. As far as sharks; people are always getting bitten by sharks here. Well, at least in some people's minds. I think maybe a dozen or so a year in the entire state. There are worse things happening on the roads all the time.
ReplyDeleteFunny!
ReplyDeleteFun painting and reflections. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletelove your beach scenes ... nice warm and welcoming ... maybe not so welcoming to Colin ... browsing back you have a great variety including shares, mermaids, and giants .. bravo
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't dream of getting you started on Elizabeth Quay.... Super glad the shark culling got ditched
ReplyDeleteI love that painting and the same note could be attached up here in the northern hemisphere, just change the name a bit.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great painting and a hilarious tag. I like it when you get on your soap box.
ReplyDeleteHa,ha, funny one!
ReplyDeleteQue buenas texturas...
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
Oh that is funny. I take it that Colin is not very well liked. .....but possibly would taste good ? :)
ReplyDeleteCollin might be the least of your problems. Here comes PETA. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteSuper cool, I guess I prefer with the blue color, but B&W is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteHope everything is fine there and you are enjoying the Weekend. Here I'm still feeling terrible due the jetlag. Oh girl, I miss the Florida Sunshine!
Big hugs from Lux

ReplyDeleteVery funny! I'm beginning to think Aussie humour is a lot like Canadian humour. ;)
