Nessun Dorma.. 'none shall sleep' x two!

Nessun Dorma twice in two days, I'm happy! One of the best known tenor arias in opera and possibly my favourite. I had not heard it performed by a female before but Fiona Mariah (Thursday's post) smashed it out of the ballpark, soaring the high notes unflinchingly. Last night I went out for dinner with my skin and blisters sisters and was wonderfully entertained by Perth artist Jay Weston, his 'Popera' repertoire including a variety of vocal genres.. the finale Nessun Dorma was more than a bit of alright :) have a listen to un petit moment by clicking here.. how are they not terrified of fluffing those insane highs!

... and take a look below, no one can say I don't support local talent :) So much happening in Perth this weekend.. just for a change! What are you up to? Enjoy and have a fab weekend, take care and stay safe.. p.s. catch up today.

  5. You don't stay still very often, do you, Grace? I suspect that the women didn't mind watching this gentleman.

  10. Many years ago I dragged my husband to see Pavarotti perform in San Diego. I had worked with Pavarotti's press guy to promote the show on my radio station and we had excellent seats as a result. He was mesmerizing. My husband, until that night, hated opera. After that, we were given a Pavarotti CD with his best work and my husband has been playing it ever since. "Nessun Dorma" is one of his favorites too.

  11. Not working for me either. I'm going to have to look popera. That's new for me but I'm a bit of a traditionalist opera fan so I'm not too sure... :-) Excellent portraits!

  14. What a treat Grace - you've had two Nessun Dormas ... I loved hearing Pavarotti sing it with his beautiful rich golden voice but have never heard it sung by a female.

  15. The last link didn't work, but on his page (first link) on the left you can click on his Demos and listen to a medley of his music.
Wow, he is supporting Sir Cliff Richard on his Australian Tour in February 2015.
I have to agree with the others, he's very handsome and talented!
