The murals adorning the exterior and interior walls of 100 Hampton Road, a 190 bed housing development for people who for one reason or another find themselves in crisis is a project collaboration between Foundation Housing Ltd. and formPUBLIC, who with the support of BHP Billiton are working together to provide a positive and creative environment.. both tres informative links.. Amok Island's reason for choosing the seahorse as his subject "they are beautiful creatures but they are hidden, they do not stand out and are easily overlooked. You have to do some effort to find them and see their beauty".. ask any diver and they will tell you this is true :) Do you have any similar housing projects in your city? Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Yes, there are places like that here.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing mural... and such colour to it too!
Lovely waking up by seahorse, love it.
ReplyDeleteCompliments that space very well.
ReplyDeleteA pretty and colorful mural!
ReplyDeleteI do love these!! Wish we had some like it here in Oregon!! Great captures as always!!
ReplyDeleteLoving that mural. The sea horse is a good choice:)
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Love it, Grace.
ReplyDeleteWorthy project with a good mascot well shown, G!💑
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful project for those in need, and a gorgeous mural. We need more of those but to give you an idea of where people are in this part of the world - Fort Lauderdale has arrested a 90-year old man for feeding the homeless; and Fort Lauderdale has also banned the homeless from carrying any blankets or boxes, etc. on their person. I think the U.S.A. has fallen victim to insatiable greed.
ReplyDeleteI like sea horses very much , they're so frail and pretty. Good choice as a symbol, and very colorful! Probably the biggest sea horse I've ever seen ! :o)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a BIG seahorse!
ReplyDeleteHallo Grace,
ReplyDeleteit looks really very particular ! I am not sure if I like it ?... it's strange ! but funny... saluti

ReplyDeleteI see the sea horse or I saw the sea horse. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteI love the sea horse - love the wonderful graphic quality of this mural. Yes we have subsidized housing here for those in need but with our very high rental market there is a huge waiting list of people hoping to get into one of the units.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mural. We have both emergency housing and subsidized housing but sometimes I wonder if it is enough. Before I moved, I sat on a city of Phoenix village planning committee for the area I lived in and I used to always fight for more affordable housing.
ReplyDeleteA delightful mural Grace & this one is definitely not hidden. Lots of upgrades going on in Adelaide but I cringe when I see them taking out beautiful old trees to revamp. After complaining about the changes to our Adelaide Oval & environs !! I now have to say it's a real winner.
ReplyDeleteThese seahorses sure are not hard to spot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful looking mural on the side of that building. Seahorse is a great image for a mural.
ReplyDeleteA beautifully bright and cheery mural. Great find.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware of that housing project. Love the mural, I hope it brightens the resident's days.
ReplyDeleteThe mural and nice building all seem to fit together.
ReplyDeleteWell that's cheerful.
ReplyDeleteWow, that building sure seems to have been spruced up, I don't remember seeing the seahorse adorning the wall. Very cheery now.
ReplyDeleteGosh that sure is one giant seahorse Grace.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice mural and very suitable to the story behind it you told us.
ReplyDeleteBeauti- and meaningful, love it. I don´t think we have a project like that. But here you have the Hartz concept for support (be it good or bad, there are many people who do not deserve it).
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to see such a big seahorse !
ReplyDeleteA nice looking Sjöhäst it is.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so darn cheerful about this mural. The artist turned nature on her head by making such a tiny creature so large. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
