Western horizons!

We are officially 8 days into summer in Australia and the weather here in the west is a lot like the ad.. 'beautiful one day, perfect the next'! I know by mid January I'll be wittering on about the heat but right now, no complaints! I took these shots yesterday afternoon around 5.30 in the afternoon on Mullaloo Beach, a small clue to the left below as to my fellow beach-walker, to the left guys :)

It amazes me how the colours of both the sky and the ocean change depending on which direction you are looking...

Many footprints in the sand.. lots of people on the beach earlier, and even though it was still 29C when I took these shots, the wind was up and all but a few had gone home for dinner!

Couldn't resist.. shadows are the only time a five foot two and a half three inch person can appear tall without the assistance of high heels :) Hope you had/are having a fab weekend, take care and stay safe..

  2. You are going to make our friend in the northern hemisphere a wee bit jealous. I've been doing the same thing. In fact, everyone of these photos could have been taken along Florida's east coast. Amazing similarities. And very beautiful.

  3. This is such a gorgeous place and so inviting indeed!! We actually have some sun and blue skies at least for a little while today, but it is chilly and the rain and wet cold and gray skies will be back tomorrow, so I really do enjoy your pics!! Of course I really enjoy them no matter what the weather!!! Hope you have a great new week!!

  9. Good to see you walking tall.
Very beautiful beaches. The water is much nicer than here in Florida. We very seldom have cler blue sky too.
Did you venture out in the surf for a dip?

  10. "Let there be light." The first thing God said. He might have added "By the sea." as light bouncing of the water gives fascinating er, light all around. Many artists moved to the south west of England to St Ives because of the interesting light there.
Light changes everything as your camera shows. Super stuff.
But I'm not jealous, we had good light here today.
I could see it through the condensation covering the windows.

  11. Great photos Grace...I keep reading on Facebook that's it's going to be a warmer than normal winter...and that after I'd read, earlier in the season, that Florida was going to have a colder than normal winter. Rats!!! I was really hoping for the colder than normal :) :) :) We had about 5 days of cool/cold weather and now it's back to warmer and HUMIDITY! Oh take me back to Arizona :)

  15. People in San Diego may feel this way about their city, except that there is a huge naval base in the middle of the waterfront. But December 1 the official first day of winter? I thought everyone went by the solstice.

  16. The 1st is my favorite.
And last one is the nice self-portrait!
Too long legs you have !! :)

  18. Love the one with the footprints in the sand and those crimped cirrus white clouds against the blue sky. I also am amazed how a camera can capture the blue of the sky so differently depending on the time of day as well as the direction of the camera.

  23. Hi Grace! Re your comment on The Villages: Yes, each downtown has a central square of sorts. And that's where community events take place. Also, although I'm not positive I'd guess that Brownwood continues the tradition of having live music and dancing every night of the year (except for inclement weather).

  29. Love the white sand you have, gotta love summer at the beach. (I thought Steffe was a bit harsh, taking a big DSLR to the beach isn't for everyone ;-)
