London.. China.. Perth!

I've been trying to get a decent shot of the new taxi cabs since they began appearing on the streets of Perth back in February this year. 13LCABS in the style of the iconic black London cabs adapted to suit the extreme hot weather conditions here in Australia they are white instead of the original black. There are mixed feelings so far, personally I think they look smashing and one of these days I'm going to hail one down and take a ride just to check out the interior :) Don't you think they add a touch of  'je ne sais quoi'  to the street scape? Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...

  5. I love how Perth is not afraid to stand on their own and do things differently from the Eastern states. Good on them!

  6. Here in Madrid the taxis are white also. Before they were black. Ca ne fait rien !

  7. Well, they certainly are unique looking. What kind of fuel do they use? Or are they electrics?

  8. A lot of our taxi cabs are old reconditioned police cars, not the least bit of glamor about them I can assure you.

  9. I thought I read that London taxis will soon dump this style?
    I could be wrong.

  10. Ah Grace, I think they add even more than a certain something! If I leapt in I would expect the driver to start speaking in fluent Italian (for some strange reason not even know to moi)
I think they add a touch of ROMANCE to the city!
    Have a super weekend!

  11. I also think that they look really nice, and they make the city look nice as well. It's quite a view seing them drive down the street. Our cabs in Mostar, are also white, but they are Toyota cars.

  12. They are fine looking cabs, but I'll bet they all disappear if it starts to rain. Cabs always do. We have cabs here, but they are a small part of our transport system. It's mostly private vehicles here.

  17. I have seen a couple of them around, didn't know they had been "adopted" in Perth. They look quite cute.

  18. I agree that the white is smashing, but it is a bit startling after seeing the black London cabs in so many photos (and for real) for so many years.l

  20. Nice colour that white. I never use a taxi here, in Amsterdam they are all terrible, ask to much money and are very rude to their passengers. So everybody is warned, they are all crooks.

  21. A bit different from the Stockholm cabs. These looks way classier. Taxi!

  22. There's NOTHING like a London cab, lucky you! I hope the engines make that specific, unmistakable purr too!

  25. They look great. But, everything in Perth looks great.

  26. Our cabs can be any car you like - they just get painted with the colours and/or logo. These look a little odd being white instead of black, but the do stand out in their way.
