Swedish Mothership.. 'conquered by pastry'!
Walking down Fitzgerald St.in Northbridge on Wednesday in search of some of the more elusive murals painted during Form PUBLIC, we came across the over-sized viking head sculpture above.. quelle surprise! Sitting outside the administration and bakehouse building for Swedish restauranteur Miss Maud previously shown here, looking over to the city that she has for the past 43 years 'conquered by pastry'.. I can't say I love it as much as the aforementioned pastries.. but, it is big :) Is it really Friday already, well for me anyway.. crazy! Have a good one, take care and stay safe...

The Viking head looks like something out of Lord of the Rings.
ReplyDeleteBakeries, on the other hand, are always quite welcome.
I like very much this sculpture, but what a surprise to see it in Perth!
ReplyDeleteHere it is still Thursday, you're always a day ahead of me :)
The statue is impressionable.
ReplyDeleteTomás.
Wow! Impressive and very interesting. I am with you on the pastries ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll take the pastries over the Viking head too!
ReplyDeleteThe Viking head looks like...Thor, maybe?
ReplyDeleteNow, about those pastries....
Lets all take pastries for the day!!! The Viking does indeed look like something out of Lord of the Rings though!! I wonder if he liked pastries??? Have a delightful weekend, Grace, one filled with lots of giggles and beauty!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in for the pastries!
ReplyDeleteOur trees are budding out this week although some species are still quite bare. It has been in the low 20˚C so that has all the blossoms bursting open finally - about 5 weeks later than normal.
I will not remind you that Vikings did not have horns on their helmets but wings.
ReplyDeleteAlmost Friday now too, I like this. I like Norsemen... And pastries of course! And the HDR treatment!
ReplyDeleteit reminds me the big trolls statues I saw in Iceland! I like it!

A must to click on the link to see what Miss Maud has on offer. It all makes sense. Neat that your second shot has a little of Perth in the background. Still can't get used to it being the next day where you are :). Have a Good Friday!
ReplyDeleteA number of folks found out it is never good to get "ahead" of a Viking, if you get my meaning. I think Vikings are my ancestors, but I'm not particularly proud of them. I would, however, venture to taste Miss Maud's treats if'n I was in Perth!
ReplyDeleteThe head in the top photo is quite handsome.
ReplyDeleteAdministration and bakehouse. I have a hard time grasping that, in English, let alone Swedish.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen that! You do find the most amazing things Grace!
ReplyDeleteWell found, Gracie! I've shared this on Facebook with my friend Norm Jorgensen who wrote 'The Last Viking" (http://perthdailyphoto.blogspot.com.au/2014/05/swedish-mothership-conquered-by-pastry.html) and is about to launch the second book in the series from Fremantle Press.
ReplyDeleteError - wrong link! Should have been: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOokYdj_d6I
ReplyDeleteSorry :o))
Have fun in the days to come!
ReplyDeleteStern .... Just as a Viking should be Grace.
ReplyDeleteA tough guy with his helmet on, I know nothing about Swedish pastries, a rendeer cake?
ReplyDeleteI think I would be more interested in the bakehouse than the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteA little scary! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletei do like the sculpture, it has some great texture...and i love pastries :) have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI haven´t seen that, either, Grace - it´s cool!
ReplyDeleteI approve of this post.
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaat??? Now that's one large Viking!!!
ReplyDeleteIf for no other reason, I'd have to eat there because of the that awesome Viking head.
ReplyDeleteVikings are pretty popular these days...
