No Photo ID.. No Entry!

Would you go in? Not having been in The Clink but unable to resist taking a shot of this off the wall entrance the venue is reviewed this way.. 'The Clink' sits in between restaurants quietly minding its own business in the day time and not quite doing that come sundown every Thursday through to Sunday'.. and 'really, truthfully, if I'm honest, this is a one star venue. The music is weirdly bad, staff are a touch on the rude side, the cocktails are beyond awful and the decor hasn't been updated since well before I first stepped foot in here thirteen years ago. Yet my friends and I keep coming here. A night here with good mates will constantly give you something to talk about'.. finally, 'the Clink is not at all easy to explain in terms of what a routine night may have in store for you! There is not all that much sitting space which is probably the nightclub's tactful way of saying 'You can sit at home. You came here to dance'! So.. would you go in :) Hope your week is off to a good start, take care...

  1. With all that going against it, it's a wonder the place is still in business.

  3. If 'clink' has the same meaning in Australia as in England then the problem is getting out not getting in!

  5. I guess your good time depends on the friends you bring with you! I think I'll pass.

  6. Hmmm....I'm pretty open to all kinds of entertainment but, I think I'd have to have a really compelling reason to try this one.

  8. I like both the name and the photo of this spot of yours. Sounds like a good hangout with a few shortcomings!

  11. Yep, I'll go with you, too!! I love to dance -- of course, it's not as easy as it was before my knees began to be so uncooperative!!! Have a great week, Grace!

  12. I'm a crappy dancer, at least when I'm sober, so you will have to pay for the drinks Grace.

  13. Haha. Stefan has some point! ;-)
I remember a place like that from when I was 17 - ages ago. No idea if it still exists, I´m too old now anyways.
But great that you can still be cool and hang out there, Grace - guess you rocK a lot more than me!

  14. Bad service, bad drinks, bad performers...are they maybe dealing in human trafficking on the side? They can't be too successful as a...whatever they are!

  16. So this is your joint, eh? It doesn't look like my kind of place.

  17. I would be curious with an entrance like that.

  18. There was a day when we would stop dancing and go out side to see what all the shooting was about. I don't know if I have patience for night places anymore, I better stay out in the wide open spaces.

  19. Grace, I've spent years trying to stay out of The Clink, can't imagine willingly going to a rude place with bad drinks and weird music. Interesting photos. In this case I like the color one. Isn't that odd?

  20. I would not go in. I am not familiar with the place and it looks a little on the creepy side.

  26. Love the black and white version. I'm afraid that I left nightclubs behind in the 60's. I love dancing but didn't like the drinking.

  27. I'd take a photo of the outside...and probably stay outside...unless someone more adventurous than myself went in with me. ;)

  28. It is an interesting entrance and I like the name of the place!

  29. If the photo on my ID had to look like the mag picture to the left of the sign, the door bitch would definitely turn me away!
