Rue des Fleurs.. or, under the Jacaranda tree.....

I'm really excited to share these pictures with you. Late last year I did a series of posts about the Laneway Art project in the city, it occurred to me as I was taking photos of all the fantastic new murals around Perth that I had a laneway of my own that could do with a little TLC. Although painted garden green the view from the back bedrooms in my house has always been tres uninspiring. No longer! A few months ago I commissioned my very talented niece Jessica to paint a floral mural along the 36ft corrugated fence, quite a challenge n'est pas? Now, under the overhang of purple Jacaranda blossom there is a profusion of sunflowers, roses, daises, poppies and so much more, and even though Sydney can't visit my garden anymore, I have her here as a permanent reminder of how very sweet she was, lovely touch Jess merci beaucoup :) The final daubs went on this weekend and I feel very privileged to be the first of many such projects for Jess..look out for that signature below, it's going to be renowned one day. Hope you've had a good weekend and are ready to face the week, happy Monday, take care....p.s. if anyone has advice on how I can keep my new mural safe from the harsh Aussie sun, I'd appreciate hearing it.....Click here to view all participants of Monday Mural

  1. May I be the first to say how beautiful your fence looks and how clever my talented daughter Jessica is!
Thanks also to you and P. for all the lunches, lifts and love you've given Jess while she toiled over bumps and perspectives.
Well done Jess - I also love the avenue of flowers :o))

  3. Wow, what a beautiful back fence you have now!! Your niece is very talented. I love the inclusion of the cat. There must be some sort of outdoor varnish you can paint over it to protect the art.

  11. Spectacular, Grace!

I would think that a varnish of some sort would do the trick of protecting it very nicely.

  17. What a fantastic effort. I shouldn't bother much with your own garden now. You just will not be in the running.

  29. Looks fab Aunty G. Your lens has captured it beautifully, well done for capturing it's breadth, all 36ft of it. Nice comments from everyone too. I just hope it brightens your day when you hang out the washing / look out the window / water the garden :D. Love you lots, Jess xxx

  32. well now you need to go rescue a cat of your own ... and i am green with envy over your new mural/view .. the yucky fence that we look out on (along with the tiny inaccessible cement yard) could use some of her touch
