Crashing waves & a bit of preening.....!

The first thing that caught my eye as I walked down to the boat slips at Ocean Reef Marina & Sea Sports Club late yesterday afternoon were the huge thunderous waves smashing over the sea wall. Finding myself a pleasing point of view I sat and waited for the imminent crash and explosion that I thought might make an appealing image. I waited and ....., well just as I was on the point of giving up in frustration.. whoooosh! at last! Hopefully it was worth the wait :)) While I sat patiently (?) I passed the time taking shots of the preening Darter drying it's wings, they certainly aren't camera shy, it's like they're silently miming 'look at me, look at me'. By the time I packed up to leave the sun was heading well on it's way out for the day! How long have you waited for a 'certain' image and did you feel it was worth it?  Happy Thursday, take care.....

  1. These photos, all of them, are fantastic. The water over the sea wall looks so dramatic and yet the birds don't seem bothered. Pretty sunset too. Super collection, Grace!

  10. Oh my gosh, I love those crashing wave shots. They are quite spectacular and that bird posing for you just makes the whole image. I'm going to California in two weeks and I hope I get to see some crashing waves while I'm there. Although, waves tend to be more dramatic in the winter months than the summer months.

  19. You have four wonderful photographs today, Grace. The sunset is especially nice, but I also like the waves crashing on the rocks with the pier and bird in the foreground.

I am sometimes a bit short of patience, so waiting for the perfect moment doesn't happen very often. But, on occasion I have waited as long as an hour for clouds to move or for someone to move into or out of a picture, etc.
