Both shining beacons in the Perth CBD although for very different reasons.. one ecclesiastical the other commercial. Up until the late 1800's the Perth skyline was dominated by church steeples, but even now surrounded by skyscrapers like
Brookfield Place and
Central Park I still think the
Wesley Church's Victorian/Gothic 35 metre high spire with weathercock atop, albeit a 143 year old weathercock in need of a little TLC :) still manages to hold it's own against it's lofty neighbors no matter how splendid they are n'est pas? Hope your week has started well, take care and stay safe.....
I love your shots for the day, Grace, and particularly the Wesley Church and it's old weathercock -- even without the TLC, but I do hope one day he'll get that! Hope your week is off to a good start! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAgain, they are all wonderful. Not easy to get night shots like this. Love that spire in amongst those modern buildings. Hope your week is getting of to a good start too, Grace :).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stuff. It's great to have found your blog...but now I'm regretting the probability of never getting to see Perth in person.
ReplyDeleteLove that old church, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThe older building have character, something new ones lack.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful night pictures! I like this small church very much,it keeps its place among modernity very well!
ReplyDeleteWonderful night shots! I really enjoyed seeing the light projection photos too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Wesley church that survives the modernity of its high neighbors.
ReplyDeleteHugs and kisses.
Old and New stew! Like my jumbled mind, Cheri!
ReplyDeleteAloha
Lovely night shots!
ReplyDeleteWell, our heat has broken so cooler breezes will be blowing our way this week.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Grace. Someday I hope to visit your fair city. It seems very inviting..
ReplyDeleteThe church looks stunning!
ReplyDeleteSuperb shots. Very nice mix of new and old architecture.
ReplyDeleteI love these fantastic night time shots!
ReplyDeleteThe church is very nicely lit. I would suggest both buildings are commercial.
ReplyDeleteYou have one vote from Connecticut in favor of Wesley Church, Grace.
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot. Makes me long to visit a big city.
ReplyDeleteI wonder which one has the most visitors?
ReplyDeleteFabulous night shots Grace. You really are getting some tremendous clarity.
ReplyDeleteNice you made the pictures in the evening, mostly rather difficult for me.
ReplyDeleteI like evening photos of cities better than daytime photos. Your photos the last couple of days help show why.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures Grace .... the Victorian/Gothic spire definitely has a beauty unrivalled by it's modern counterparts.
ReplyDeleteLove your angle on the first shot. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat skyline views.
I much prefer the church architecture, but they are beautifully contrasted side by side.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos! Very artsy!
ReplyDeleteThe architectural of the church is far more interesting!
ReplyDeleteGreat title to go with the wonderful top shot.
ReplyDeleteReally nice night shots!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the old and new clash and sometimes they don't.
Great contrast captured here!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
