I see you blue sky
Behind those bars up high
Don't think you pass me by
You are in my minds eye
Birds call as they play in a tree
What must it be like to fly free... by P.
I'd like to take credit for the above poem but mine went along the lines of .....
Back in the day
It would be safe to say
That if you put a foot wrong
It wouldn't be long
Before behind bars ye would be :))
I'd love to read what you might come up with to describe how convicts must have felt back when simple thieving could mean transportation for seven years, or stealing something worth more than a shilling meant death by hanging. The expression 'the law is an ass' was as relevant then as it is now :)
A heartfelt TGIF, have a good Friday, take care.....Click here to view all participants of Skywatch Friday
Beautiful skies that could be heartbreaking if you saw them from behind bars!! Ah, another incentive to behave myself!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice sky reflection, Grace.
ReplyDeleteI like the red bricks too!
Hi Grace,
ReplyDeletewe are Poets I see...
ciao from a sunny Italy
The punishment doesn't always fit the crime does it. Why is that people in power or with money get off so easily and the rest of us...? AH! But who ever said life was fair?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately justice is often mistaken for vengeance...
ReplyDeleteTransported to seaside and blue skies.
ReplyDeleteThat's a punishment....?
I bow to your poetic genius. It has made my day, Grace. That is a wonderful photograph too. Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend too!
ReplyDeleteThe photo makes gaol look quite an attractive place. It's certainly an attractive old town.
ReplyDeleteI love this reflection shot!
ReplyDeleteGood shot!
ReplyDeleteJustice, I think, is restorative.
Excellent shot - and I won't inflict my poetry on anybody ...
ReplyDeleteThe so-called "good ol' days" weren't very good for a lot of people and you didn't want to get sick back then! I don't like bars on any windows although I understand there are areas where they are a necessity! :)
ReplyDeleteNice shot, Grace! I hope to never have to look through the bas from the other side!
ReplyDeleteA terrific reflection!
ReplyDeleteThey probably feared jail time more then than they do now.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible to think of how things used to be. That is a lovely reflection and sky! Even better topped off by these perfect poems!:))
ReplyDeleteFantastic reflection!
ReplyDeleteI love those colors...
ReplyDeletePierre
Haha, but I'll tell you, there are some convicts who fully deserve what they get, and more!
ReplyDeleteKuantan nature photos
Nice poems and a great sky!
ReplyDeleteSkywatch Friday is a great idea, Grace, and in fact I just posted a sky-pic at a friends FB-post. But just to "whine" about the summer we don´t have, whereas he posted a pic of Perth´s blue (but cold) sky...
ReplyDeleteNot a good pic to start with!
I´ll wait for summer...
That poem... must´ve been tough days!
Great composition of a dramatic reality!
ReplyDeleteYou are a poet as well as a photographer.
ReplyDeleteA nice skywatch, not so sombre about convects... there is a blue sky!
ReplyDeleteToday it's the opposite : even if one kills someone , one does not go to prison for very long!
ReplyDeleteBTW, the picture is wonderful!:o)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week-end, dear Gracie!
i take the fifth .. cant comment on past crimes .. not sure the its okay to discuss them has passed ;)
ReplyDeleteI love how you captured the reflection in the window!
