"Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly"..

"There have been two great tragedies in my life. One was the
tram and the other was Diego. Diego was by far
the worst".. Frida Kahalo

The incroyable image of Frida Kahlo painted here with the above quote by Perth based artist Fieldey. I couldn't take a shot of the quote as Santa Fe Restaurant and Tequila Lounge is muy popular, inconvenient heads were in the way :) The interior artwork is pristine and protected, the outside mural, a collaboration between Fieldey and Erika Pearce is open to whatever/whomever passes by. If you have a closer look in the window below you will spot a hot redhead enjoying una comida caliente y picante! Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

  1. I spent this last weekend in Santa Fe New Mexico and saw images of Frida in so many places. My friend wondered what she would think if she could see how popular she has become today.

  5. Frida is so popular as an image these days. It does make you wonder what she would think.

  6. The cult of Frida. Why was a tram such a tragedy? Better go off and look.

  7. Who is Frida and why should I care? And why would I want these paintings all over my wall? Seriously, I'm asking. I don't have any answers.

  8. What a beauty, great portrait of Frida. Just heard a piece on the radio yesterday about her exhibition that will be shown in London, Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up is already sold out.

  9. Answering Sharon's comment re. Frida: I doubt that she would be surprised, altho Diego's ego might be bruised by all the attention and adulation now give to Frida. Those two were more than interesting people with such a tempestuous relationship. I've spent lots of time in both New Mexico and México and I have been fascinated with her art for years. I was first attracted to Diego as an artist and as I learned more about his art, I learned more about his life. Of the two, I lean toward Frida as a particularly brave and courageous woman plus independent and creative!

  12. She has certainly become an icon. These are wonderful murals (though they may have edited the famous unibrow, I think).
