When I go to the Zoo, usually with Aimee or my friend (and sometimes mentor!) it's always a challenge to see if you can take a picture and somehow make it look as if it hasn't actually been taken at the Zoo. I think I've mentioned before that the big cats are my favorite, hasn't he got the most beautiful face, the fact that he could open his mouth and eat you is immaterial...so what do you think, could I have been on safari in the middle of Africa when I shot these. I actually lived in Central Africa for many years and unfortunately never got as close to the big cats as this, it would have been such a thrill to see them in their natural environment....and one of these days I am going to be brave enough to actually do an all black and white post.....!!
I'd like to say a HUGE congratulations to Cadel Evans for his incredible win in the Tour de France what an amazing achievement.....!!
La première photo est géniale, on se croirait dans ma jungle (la terrible jungle) prêt a se faire attaquer (tient il ressemble a mon chat, quand il va attaquer ma chaussette ;o)) )
ReplyDeleteI will swear that these were taken in your backyard, Grace. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteThese are excellent Grace!
ReplyDeleteI would have thought that you were on a safari! Watched the Tour every day and was pulling for Caudel all the way!
ReplyDeleteLove the lion. Cats have always been my favourite. I want a Snow Leopard.
ReplyDeletePS. Have you seen my lion walk shots? They behaved so much like playfull kitties you had to keep reminding yourself that one swipe of those paws could take your face off.

For a moment I thought you were out on safari. Great close ups.
ReplyDeleteWow, these shots are great. I do exactly the same thing when I visit the zoo. The last time I went I got some really great shots of the tiger. It's always hit or miss getting the shots you want but, I always get one or two I like.
ReplyDeleteWell shot indeed, but the King Of The Beasts has an expression like he's had his picture taken quite enough, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThose are some amazing photos of those big, wild cats!
ReplyDeleteDon't mess with them - that's my moto!
I agree with you, taking pictures in the zoo are challenging and you made it worth nice capture of those animals.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots and if I squint my eyes I can believe that they were roaming wild!
ReplyDeleteCrikey, Cadel!!! Way to go, you cutie-patootie with a dimpled chin. So glad to see him win.
Bises,
Genie
Urgent and very important

The first photo is impressive. It seems ready to jump up
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, the first one is outstanding and the tone add drama to his/her pose!
ReplyDeleteThey sure look as if you captureds them on some wild life safari!!
ReplyDeletethe lion looks so chilled out though :)
Good one!
ReplyDeleteWell who would have guessed you were at the zoo? The pix look like they were taken out in the wild, especially the B&W one!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
Beautiful shots. I have mixed feelings about zoos and even more mixed feelings about the Tour de France. One I find it boring to the extreme and two, they're all doped.
ReplyDeleteI like big cats, but they look better in picture. My compliments to Cadel Evans, we missed his triumph for a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteGave me a slight shock at first. Didn't know they had lions in Perth, (not that I've ever been there of course) Yes, I agree - lion faces look so wise and kind and interesting. You would never think they were so dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI would say that this is the photo safari. Looks that way. The pictures are fascinating. I would not be a food lion. Still, I admire. Therefore, we have little beast in the form of cats at home.
ReplyDeletei would believe you if you said you'd taken these on safari.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots! If I didn't know you have visited the zoo I would say these were images from a safari somewhere in my favourite continent. So, you have lived in Africa?! I spent 1,5 years there and have come back several times to visit other countries. And yes, I was this close to big cats! :-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots Grace. Really like the B&W and look forward to your all B&W post. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeletewhat?! the fact that they can eat you is immaterial..^0^ haha.
ReplyDeletei'm scared of Big animals and that's final.
i like both of your fotos though, very nat'l geographic and both have distinct characters.
Well, I was just about to ask you if there were wild lions in Australia before reading the post so yes, I think you've got it down pat! You black and white photo is simply AMAZING! :D
ReplyDeleteExcellent portraits, Grace!
ReplyDeleteSurely this is Africa not Perth. Love the shot of the leopard. Let us know when you next take a trip to downtown Zimbabwe.
ReplyDeletebeautiful!
