This is one of those impromptu shots that you quickly take in passing and are really happy with the 'look' of. Winthrop Hall at the University of Western Australia makes the perfect studio to create in, the light coming in those big windows even in winter is perfect, the views going out to the gardens are inspiring, the size and space energizing, and on Sunday it was being used by a group of artists sketching a model while people watched on.I admire them for the confidence they have in their skills, I do have 'artistic delusions' myself, but I couldn't see myself working in this situation for two reasons, firstly I couldn't possibly create with someone looking over my shoulder, and secondly, I throw way too much paint around than would be acceptable in these 'hallowed halls of learning'.....!!
Great capture and the light that works so well for the artists is perfect for your photo! I would love to see the results of your "throwing paint" art!

A painterly moment nicely captured, Grace.
ReplyDeleteI like it. I think it is very nice.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photo. I would have stuck around for few more.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! Love the light coming in and the fact that the shot is taken from behind the painters.... from their viewpoint.

Strange that the model is sitting in the window all backlit, rather away from it with the artists between her and the window. The light would be so much more beautiful. Maybe this is just an exercise.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be peeking over their shoulders to see how they interpreted the task - A lovely candid shot Grace.
ReplyDeletethis is such a beautiful capture!
ReplyDeleteforget about painting you can create works of art just clicking them!
Wonderful.
ReplyDeletePerfect moment perfectly caught. I wish I could draw.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture Grace, the art of photographing art...
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot going on in this photo. The subject concentrating on holding her pose (hope she gets to stretch occasionally), the focus of the artists, the artist materials discarded on the floor and the light racing through the windows bouncing off the wallls, glowing in the floorboard polish waiting to be captured. I think you caught it all before the budding artists. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Light on the window is great! Girl and two musician creates triangle! Excellent!
ReplyDeleteNice snap- especially like photos of watching the watchers.
ReplyDeletethis is a great capture indeed. i also love your description of the way you paint.
ReplyDeleteGreat study of the concentration needed to capture a model's pose. Agree about the difficulty of working in this space with others looking on. Would also prefer a more relaxed location.
ReplyDeleteNice composition of your shot.
ReplyDeleteGreat ambiance...

I'm so glad you caught this scene! It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like the mood of those painting studios!I'd like to know how to draw and paint , but i'm not gifted!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the artists and their model! I've never been good at all at drawing!
ReplyDeleteRegards from friendly EAGAN
Don't worry, even many famous contemporary artists have artistic delusions, and people can't discern the few good works from the huge pile of trash!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see the inside of that lovely building! The artists don't seem to be too nervous with you shooting behind them.
ReplyDeleteI like your image.
ReplyDeleteLooks nice, and have lots of atmosphere.
We had SUMMER today!
Haha, so you're a messy painter, eh? I like this shot a lot, Grace, although I reckon that pose would become pretty uncomfortable pretty quickly..
ReplyDeleteYes, the light is beautiful! Lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteBom dia!fiquei feliz com a sua visita ao meu blog.
ReplyDeleteDesejo um bom fim de semana!
beijo.
