Winter Sun.....
I took these photos at 8.30 am yesterday morning, the temperature was 11C , there were a few hours to go before we reached the max of 22C, which considering we are in the middle of winter I'd say was a fairly respectable top temp and that we are pretty darn lucky! I know it's not usual practice to shoot directly into the sun, but I quite enjoy that 'burst' of energy in the sky! Once again the tricky question of black and white versus colour raised it's ugly head, and being a Libra I couldn't decide which one to go with (my daughter thinks I use the excuse of being a Libra way too much to cover for my indecisiveness! ) so as I like both equally, here they both are!! Happy sky watch Friday.....

I'm a Virgo. We are almost frighteningly decisive. After I have finished deciding things for myself, I go looking for neighbors so I can decide things for them, too.
ReplyDeleteI like the colour! As a Pisces I want blue water.
ReplyDeleteI'm with RedPat on this one! Beautiful blue!
ReplyDeleteThe black and white really shows off the sparkles on the water. :-)
ReplyDelete22 in the winter! We should be so fortunate. More like -4 to -7 here but often much colder. 32 - 37 or more here at this time of year but you probably get worse in the summer. Nowhere is safe.
ReplyDeleteDifficult choice between color and B&W...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day !
Pierre
I think that in this case is better black and white performance photographs. Got a great warm winter. We turn a strange summer. One day more than 30 degrees and the next day around 24 degrees. Last night brought to Bohemia extreme storm. For over 300 flashes a minute. Total of the Republic more than 40,000 flashes. You could shoot at night. Enjoy a summer cold. Health Peter.
ReplyDeleteI like the black and white, but I've always been partial to b&w.
ReplyDeletebeeautifully captured! love the coloured pic!
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else having a problem commenting on Pierre's blog, as soon as I hit his site, my virus alarm goes off and I switch back immediately. Surely it can't just be me!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteGreat winter sky shots.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
No prob with Pierre. I like both pics but the blue picks up what yesterdays weather was like - bit different today!
ReplyDeleteThe picture could have been taken here on french riviera..same boats, same weather..Hard to believe you're in winter!

Enjoy your winter... tropical compared to here. hahaha
ReplyDeleteYou have such variety to photograph where you live. Always something new and exciting here!
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't look like winter to me! :-)
ReplyDeleteDaughters can be quite helpful that way. They feel an obligation to raise their mothers responsibly. Pointing out our little weaknesses is a favored technique of mother-rearing.
ReplyDeleteJack's comment is right on! I like nothing better than making decisions for other people, esp if I can spend their money. Taking me along shopping with you spells disaster for your pocket book. Re. the photos: this time I prefer the colour.
ReplyDeleteI'm a colour person Grace - give me the pastels and the vibrants and the muted tonings - I love them all.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous shot! I like both photos but, I have to admit I'm more fond of the color shot. I'm glad you let us see both.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I'm a Leo but I'm having a hard time deciding which I like, too. The colors in the sun are gorgeous but the quite scene of the boats in black and white is stunning! Don't think I'll be able to choose :D
ReplyDeletehaha, i think women in general are fickle minded. ^0^
ReplyDeletelike you, I always have a hard time deciding something before finalizing it.
and between this two, i'm having a hard time choosing too. ^0^
i also go way beyond the against-the-sun shot,
and this is a prettty intense one.
have a great weekend ahead pdp. ^0^
We got some sun in what was until now an autumnal Paris, so the seasons aren't so opposite as they ought to be....
ReplyDeleteSo why do you have to choose? You've got both - and they both look great!! Who said indecision was a bad thing, anyway?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteHard choice, but I would prefer a blue sky:)! Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Leo, but I have no idea whether I should be decisive as a result. In any case, the colour is a clear fave for me on this one.
ReplyDeleteAs for shooting against the sun, you're in good company. It's a recognised photography "niche" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contre-jour
I lkike bw photo!
