Night & Day.....

Another of the artworks in the 140 ART project this one at the entrance to the foyer of 140 William St. (Aimee's building) by talented WA artist Sara Winfield, if you are interested what makes these artists 'tick' you might enjoy this short video .. I took the above shot on Friday evening and below on a trip to the city last week, très différent in daylight oui! It's not often these days anywhere in the world that you see an unattended brown bag on the streets.. someone wasn't paying attention! Perth is hot this weekend, activity and weather wise. Me..I'm just doing my best to keep cool :) Happy Sunday, take care..... Many marvelous weekend reflections.here.....

Heavenly projections.....!

The official seven week Perth City Festival of Christmas celebrations kicked off in a burst of colour last night, with the official turning on of the Christmas lights which also incorporates a new series of light projections created by 'The Electric Canvas' shown against one of my favourite buildings the old GPO in Forrest Place. After a 36C day the breeze was in and made for a warm balmy evening enjoyed by over 5000 Perthites and visitors alike, check out last shot, quite a crowd oui! Once again there are so many things going on it makes me tired just thinking about getting to them all :) Catch up today, have a great weekend, take care.....!

Dio..drama.....!

I took this shot from the 13th floor of One40 William St. using the diorama setting on my camera.. it's a pretty cool effect which I think works best as here, when taking a shot from up high giving a 'scale model' feel to the cars below.. not often 'up high' I have to take these opportunities when I can :) You can see the Horseshoe Bridge which at the moment is the main link between Northbridge and the CBD, already the Fremantle rail line has been sunk below ground.. this short video shows how it will look when the Perth City Link project is complete, it will make such a difference to the dynamics of Perth City and I'm very much looking forward to it! I might have to take progress shots from this same spot as things move along.. happy Thursday, take care.....

What!.. Smelly! ..Us.....?

Walking beside the river in South Perth a few days ago I couldn't resist these two adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniels out walking with their humans. According to the stats these 'royals' are the 6th most popular dog breed in the UK and 6th also in NYC and San Fransisco.. you learn something everyday oui :) Extremely sociable dogs they enjoyed the fuss and cuddles.. it was only after they had continued on their way that I realized the 'pong' I could smell was on my hands..dear little souls had been for a river swim! I'm thinking more everyday that it's time I was brave enough to get a new furry friend, the question is.. can I bear to have my heart broken again! Do you have a special friend and for how long? Happy middle of the week, take care.....

One moment, one day in September.....!

On the 28th of September this year people from around WA were invited to capture a single moment of their day the concept being that 'every photograph reveals an individual story and every story forms part of our collective memory, providing an incredible snapshot of life from the perspective of hundreds of people around our state', a very cool idea don't you think! Three hundred people participated in MOSAIC, an inspired vision initiated by Propel, Youth Arts WA about to celebrate their 10th birthday.. the results can be seen in the sleek, shiny foyer of Brookfield Place. I zipped into the city yesterday to meet Aimee and check out her entry below.. no it's not the fab flower macro, it's the ice cream cone and the perfect moment captured on a warm day by the beach, can't get better than that :) I hope your week is off to a good start, take care and stay safe.....

Glow in the dark.....!

Last weekend it was the Colour Run to raise money for Princess Margaret Children's Hospital.. this weekend it was the Neon Run held in the Claremont Showgrounds to raise money for Beyond Blue an organization working to bring awareness to and reduce the impact of depression and anxiety in the community. It never ceases to amaze me the way Perthites throw themselves so enthusiastically into these charity events and I'd like to say a huge merci beaucoup to Aimee for letting me show these shots she took while participating in the run. How was your weekend, what did you get up to? Oh and btw the 'subliminal' message in Saturdays post was in the eye chart..'eating peri peri is good for you' :))

Birds, butterflies and 36degrees.....!

Unlike the raucous, flamboyant birds that inhabit my back garden screeching for food early in the morning.. the insect eating, honey sippers flit around in the trees and bushes in my front garden. The Red Wattlebirds above are described as 'big & noisy', maybe I'm lucky, maybe I have a 'Michael Bublé pair :) I love to hear them warbling outside my bedroom window as they call to their mate. The butterfly mentioned is atop the key lime tartlet that I 'experienced' last week in Le Papillon Patisserie, très délicieux! It's going to be 36C here in Perth today, bit of a shock to the system after the perfect spring weather, hopefully it's just a rogue hotty, it's too early for extreme temperatures, although the weather has been misbehaving around the globe lately oui! Hope you're enjoying the weekend, take care and stay safe.....
