Fence sitter..

It was a wild weather kind of day yesterday, the kind of day to stay home if you can. I could and I did :) Luckily for me my avian visitors never let me down, assembling along the fence under the patio out of the rain. Think the young kookaburra here had a double motive for sitting there overly long. It was espying the food in the dish I had put out for the cat that isn't mine. Unfortunately the cat that isn't mine was asleep with one eye open on the bench nearby.. ah well the kookaburra was dry, one out of two ain't bad :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

A splash of Colour.. anyone for golf..

There were a surprising number of golfers on the golf course in Yanchep, 56 km north of Perth, yesterday morning. Surprising because it was a cold, windy, rainy day.. perfect for a Sunday drive but I wouldn't have thought for a game of golf, wrong according to P who looked on wistfully as I took these shots :) Utility boxes around Perth have never looked so good since the Water Corps Splash of Colour program began back in 2017. The work here is by talented Perth contemporary artist Peter Ryan whose colourfully, whimsical art has appeared here many times and enhances many otherwise lacking areas around Perth and country towns. The artist 'likes to create art that everyone can enjoy for different reasons, whether it is the colours or the subject matter or the fact that it just makes them smile.'  It makes me happy whenever I come across his work, especially on a dull day. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

Bocelli's reflections..

Where there is a roof there is hope! Rainy day reflections on the curved dome of my favourite cafe in the heart of the city Bocelli's Espresso. You may remember my outraged post HERE outlining the hugely unpopular attempt to close and remove this iconic to the city of Perth cafe. The cafe is still closed but it hasn't been demolished as yet so, being a glass half full kind of person, I'm taking that as a positive sign. Btw thank you to those of you who signed the petition on their link from afar, hopefully I will be back there soon taking Perth people in the city shots :) Have a super weekend, we are in for a wet one, happy Friday see you on Monday, take care and stay safe..

Happy belated birthday..

The 1st of August is Horses' Birthday in the Southern Hemisphere, click the link to find out why the 1st of August. In the Northern Hemisphere it is 1st January, I'm guessing for the same reason. There were big plans to celebrate this event in Chidlow 45minutes east of Perth. I was really looking forward to taking lots of horsey shots but it was not to be, beaucoup de pluie and strong winds put paid to the celebrations, paddocks flooded! Although I am five days late I still felt these magnificent creatures, whether stately Clydesdale or temporary mini unicorns below, deserved recognition..

You can bet your bottom dollar I didn't take the shots below lately. They are from February when the temps can reach 40C. Taken on the horse/dog beach close by, it must feel so wonderful to cool off like this. Happy belated birthday to horses everywhere.. I can't believe there isn't a carrot emoji :) Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

Bird on the wire..

It's not often that I get a chance to take pics of the smaller birds, they flit around too fast, so when I  spotted the sweet wee singing honeyeater I whipped my ever present camera up to take the shots here before it zipped away. The song of this small omnivorous bird has been described as anywhere from scratchy to melodious, yesterday it was the latter. There was a cold wind blowing, hence the puffed up feathers to keep warm, too cute. Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Small steps big changes..

We have to hope right! Discovered the fabulous work by multi-disciplinary artist Melski McVee in the inner-city suburb of Northbridge a while back.. not only an important message, reduce, recycle and reuse, also a splash of colour on this overcast winter's day and everyday in this laneway location. Melski 'works primarily in the realms of community art, murals, sculpture and illustration. Her interest in street art emerged through a passion for community activation projects in her local area'. Always enjoy coming across her work. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Sticky..

The August theme for City Daily Photo bloggers around the world is 'sticky'. While puzzling over the what to do while out to breakfast with Aimee yesterday she put forward the suggestion of actual sticks.. 'stickies'. All but one of the trees in my garden are deciduous and are magnificently sticky at the moment however there amidst the stickiness :) a sign that, although it certainly doesn't feel like it, spring is on the way..

.. and with all the sticky photos I took in the process I couldn't resist creating a multiple exposure, pretty cool right :) Hope you had/are still having a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. no prizes for counting how many times I wrote a variation on 'sticky' in this post 😉
