Long neck turtle..

On an early morning walk around Bibra Lake on Sunday I was pleased to discover the simple but beautiful depiction of the southwestern long neck turtle endemic to this part of WA. As part of the preservation program for the long-neck turtles the City of Cockburn have installed several nesting cages along the fringe of the lake to help protect the threatened reptiles from their many predators. I did see the cages along the walk wish I had taken some pics. Check out the short video of the turtles at Bibra Lake HERE, would love to see one, they're kinda cute :) Take care and stay safe..

  4. Nice, but disappointingly I noticed in real life they are not blue. Their necks are extraordinarily long and how clumsy they look when walking.

  6. What a joyful scene and betting all those long necked turtles are in agreement too!

  7. I never knew that such an animal existed and what a curious beast it is. Glad to hear they're receiving some help and protection.

  8. Thats a unusual turtle. Wonder if its neck fits under its shield . Must be a reason for its long neck but very interesting and worth to preserve it for the future.

  10. This is a most unusual reptile, Grace. However, I was delighted to read your city is trying to protect them. And so nice to see the lovely mural, too.
