Back in time..

Like most people I find old black and white photos captivating. From architecture to dress style and everything in between! You have seen the heritage listed Horseshoe Bridge built in 1904 here before, when it was built it was the main pass over from the city to Northbridge, with the new development of Yagan Square this is no longer the case. The last time I was in the city the old photo here was inserted into one of the under arches. Despite searching I couldn't find when it might have been taken but.. if you pull it in you will see soldiers either going off to or returning from I'm guessing the First World War between 1914-1918 definitely not the Second World War, the clothes are all wrong. Is it just me who finds these old images fascinating? I'm not sure if the link will work but have a look HERE to see horse drawn carriages going across the bridge instead of cars, looove it! Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

  6. Hello Grace,
Very nice that this old bridge with a large history has remained intact.
So special with the countered. Funny with the old picture on the wall.
Nice to see the old picture of your link.

Here in city Rotterdam we have a little bit the same. An old railway bridge and station through the city. The nostalgic spaces underneath have now become beautiful catering establishments. A nice place to go for a drink or meal.

  12. Love that photo, Grace and weee the bridge looks so spacious with only those few horse carriers.
Last time on my last day Ingo stayed home and I strolled through Yagan Square by myself.
Sometimes I like to say my good-bye like that. And now I´m homesick.
    Darn Corinna...

  13. Always nice to see old cities when they themselves were young. Then expectations are always high.
