Donut rings that is! We've had a few big events in Perth over the last two months with Zara opening it's city store followed soon after by Topshop. Fashion is one thing but donuts are altogether another :) The hype building up to the opening of Perth's first Krispy Kreme has been
Down at ground level it was quite the affair.. balloons, brass band, celebrities, the works! There was much debate on the part of Krispy Kreme as to whether setting up shop here in the west was a viable option.. they should have quizzed Jamie Oliver, he could have reassured them as to how enthusiastically Perthites embrace the new.. if the product is deserving!
There were the usual official speeches.. and a few 'distractions' :)
Is it just me or is that a super-sized tuba! Below the cameras rolled as the first customers entered the building. The location out here in the northern suburbs as opposed to the city does puzzle me a little but no doubt that decision would have been well researched. The Krispy Kreme stands at Sydney and Melbourne airports will be anticipating a drop in sales, why tussle with a box of precious cargo on the flight home when now you can buy them whenever you fancy! Happy Thursday, take care. p.s. no I didn't have one.. yet :) who knew Krispy Kreme have been around for 75 years, is there one nearby to tempt you?
Hehe, I love how you describe this event, this turning point!
ReplyDeleteNo, here in Israel you're lucky if you can find one or two donuts among the huge spread of bakery goods at the bakeries.
er was genoeg te doen
ReplyDeleteAh, my favorite place for great donuts!! Does look like a fun, colorful day and you always capture the fun so well -- next best thing to being there myself and I could use a donut this morning!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a to-do for a doughnut shop opening. Not quite my personal idea of treats, though.
ReplyDeleteI personally think Krispy Kreme is overrated. And I'd never wait in such a line for a doughnut.
ReplyDeleteWe're just talking about donuts here, right? :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't like doughnuts :)
ReplyDeleteBut I do like your photos, they give a good impression
of what was going on there. Was it published, that they
would give the first one in line a years supply of doughnuts,
or did that guy just camp there for fun?
And how much is a "years supply"? One per day? :))

Key word to remember: moderation !
ReplyDeleteKrispy Kremes have long been one of our most desired edibles. They are sold in our local grocery stores, but to get the full benefit one has to drive north about 35 miles to Gainesville where there is an an actual Krispy Kreme outlet. We don't do that very often. :)
ReplyDeleteLol! What a great set of shots Grace!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks a lot of fun. Though one doughnut seems much like another to me! Sorry you couldn't find Leonard C on my blog. I think the video is only there on a full computer. It's not shown on my phone, for example, so maybe it doesn't work on phones and tablets - some people overseas seem to have seen it so I don't know if it relates to distance or to the machine you're using.
ReplyDeleteI like Krispy Kreme, but Dunkin' Donuts is better. My only gripe against DD is that they act more like a coffee shop than a donut shop....
ReplyDeleteHave you tried one at all? I did not like them, especially the glaze over them. I like them rolled in cinnamon and sugar, or oozing out scalding hot jam.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, there are plenty of them around here. Every now and then someone will bring a box to work but, I usually do not partake. Every since I learned how fattening they are, I've decided to save my excess calorie allotment for things like chocolate croissants and almond Danish.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, that tuba looks like it's been eating too many donuts.
They opened several stores here a few years ago but there don't seem to be many of them around anymore. It's hard for anyone to compete with Tim Hortons here.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried them, but can't imagine waiting in a long line to buy one...
ReplyDeleteApologies for the sugar invasion from the USA! LOL

I love KK bu i think I love the 4th pic better lol :)
ReplyDeleteWere getting on soon. I can't wait. I love them.
ReplyDeletekk is good but not worth all that, it is just a donut afterall! our local one burnt down and they just re-opened a couple of weeks ago and had the same craziness with people camping out...it's still a long wait too...i haven't been as it's about a half hour from me and i won't make the trek just for a donut...we usually get a dozen if we happen to be somewhere out and about and notice the "hot" light on, that's when they are best! but honestly, i can't remember the last time i had one! i love the photos!
ReplyDeleteAll for a donut! Marketing is alive and well.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the company and I don't think we have one in the Netherlands. But I can't imagine I would stand in a line for a donut! Different kind of culture I suppose. I like the photo of the stylish lady and the tubas, she looks fabulous so bronzed :)
ReplyDeleteNOT a big fan of KK, but I do have a terrible weakness for a chocolate coconut donut.
ReplyDeleteA sweet divertissement! Arianna
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Krispy Kremes but never had one. I rarely eat donuts even though I do drink more coffee than I should. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy does it come with "K"s, Grace?
ReplyDeleteI tried a "Simpson´s"-donut from my teamleader. Nah. Not my thing (surprise, huh? ;-)...)
