Getting to know me.....!

You would think looking at the shot above that a mega storm was about to plummet down on us at any minute. Sitting 'alfresco' :) in a cafe in Forrest Place very early yesterday morning it was a little like looking at a parallel universe, to the left above the sky was ominously 'brewing' while below to the right blue sky peeking through puffy white clouds..within a short while even they disappeared and it was blue skies all around, in fact it got to 20C with  21 forecast for tomorrow..not too shabby for the middle of winter oui!
If you look to the centre of the top shot you'll see the City of Perth information booth where you can find out about all the fabulous things happening in Perth, most of them free. The booth is attended by a team of wonderful volunteers who love Perth a much as I do, I bet if you check out the latest 'get to know me' video you'll recognize quite a few Perth City sights that have featured here over the last two years. I hope the skies are blue in your part of the world today, enjoy..take care and stay safe.. Click here to view all participants of Skywatch Friday

  2. The dramatic sky in your top shot is so cool. Fun to see blue sky not far away. Always love portraits...these four are doing a great service for the lovely City of Perth. Enjoy your Friday :).

  3. What an amazing difference in the two pics and at the same time, too!! We had some similar ones the past couple of days -- rain and clouds in one direction and sun and blue skies in the other -- take your pick!! Terrific captures as always!! Hope you have a great weekend!!

  4. I love those intense skies and that brooding feeling when a storm might set in! Quite a contrast to sunny skies but sometimes a strangely welcome one...I will take your nice winters anyday over our snow and slush:) I love those wonderful smiles too. Hope you're easing nicely into the weekend.

  5. Your winter sounds pretty easy to take!

  6. That sky really does look threatening in that top photo. Sounds like you are having a beautiful winter. No alfresco dining here today. It's way to hot to enjoy your food outdoors.

  7. The contrasting sky photos illustrate quite well the capricious nature of the weather all over the world, or so it seems. Yes, volunteers are wonderful and to be appreciated and treasured.

  8. It is remarkable the difference in the impressions one sometimes gets by turning around. I remember a day in Florida this past winter when it was sunny in the back of the house and raining in front.

  9. Your winter is warmer than our summer. I love that first shot, I love to see cityscapes like that!

  10. Although it is now in your cold, it's still warm. Here are the winter to - 20 ° C and more. Sometimes but is also around 10 ° C. I see that in Perth are nice places to sit or walk. Enjoy a nice weekend!

  11. Is that information booth rather new (like after 2006)? There was one, but was it of glass?
Aww, can´t wait to see that place again, last time I was there it was full of beautiful tinsel :-)

Hrgh, yes, I just put my microwave-sheep on my lap again, brrr, cold.
Spouse "built" a radio today, btw. All he got at first was a French station, but they talked far trés vite pour moi! As an excuse... Last time I was in France was ... ugh...22 years ago!

Have a great weekend, Grace :-)

  12. Two nice shots of Perth, the first sky looks familiar to me. That's what I see the whole day, it comes and goes. Today whe had summer temperature 15C...

  13. Inforamtion Centre volunteers are great folk! I love that building in the second shot Grace, and isn't it so unreal when you look left and right and see two different weather patterns!

  14. Our sky is bright blue, no clouds. Moving into our summer, supposed to hit 45c today, higher on the weekend.

  15. My very favorite light is bright sun behind me and dark cloud behind the subject. The first picture gives me that sense. Nice work.

  17. What different views of the same sky in a brief timeframe. My dear, I know that your blog is better (more beautiful and informative) than the "get to know me" videos!

  18. These are the kind of dramatic skies I don't mind seeing!
And sitting al fresco in the mid winter is something else I wouldn't mind :)

  20. Do you know that what you call winter, +20C is more than we call summer here up in the north. ( I mean Norway:)
A nice place you have found! And the sky do look dramatic....

Why do I hear the song "Always look on the bright side...." just now?

Anyway, have a nice weekend. (It is Friday morning here in Stavanger)

  22. Hi Grace ... love that shot with those ominous grey clouds threatening to burst at any moment. Almost looks like a science fiction movie. Top shot. Cheers J.

  24. Much as I like sun and warm weather, a nice dark stormy sky is a treat to look at. 21C in mid winter, Sigh...

  25. It sure has changed over the years. I have visited a few times and each time there is something new to discover. Sure is a great city. Have you ever done a post on the statues of the business men over the years . I can't remember the nae of the place but I think they are in front of a Commerce Building.

  26. The skies never seem to be grey for too long in Perth. Lucky for us!!

  27. Perth is a beautiful and wonderful city. And those volunteers look perfect for the job. I hate when you run into a "volunteer" who sneers, "And whadda you want?" :)

  28. Lovely...even with dark clouds overhead! Happy skywatching!

  29. Very dramatic skies in that first one, Grace.
