I caught up with a friend yesterday and while sitting snugly inside
Spinnakers Cafe (excellent for coffee and outlook, not sure about the food) we watched as yet another rain shower came straight towards us. For anyone who enjoys lighthouses as much as I do, this excellent link to the
Bedout Island Lighthouse explains how its 1909 original lantern house, refurbished and recycled came to be sitting here 24 metres above sea level atop Hillary's Boat Harbour lighthouse (above) throwing it's beam 12 nautical miles out into the Indian Ocean! Lighthouses..functional, life saving and yet a wee bit romantic also, or is that just me :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe.....
Cool shot, G :-)
ReplyDeleteAloha
Ooh....there is certainly a change in the air in Perth. Great shots to prove the point :). Enjoy your Wednesday too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great spot for a cup of coffee...too bad the food is questionable!!! Love the second shot!!!
ReplyDeleteThe same shot with and without the rain on the window is brilliant Grace! You creative vixen you!
ReplyDeleteI love that photo through the rain spattered glass. What a wonderful view and the rain just adds to that "impressionist" feel.
ReplyDeleteAs I like both lighthouses and rain, the second picture is an enchantement to my eyes!
ReplyDeleteWhat terrific captures, Grace! I love them both! You do find the best shots!! Hope your week is going well!
ReplyDeleteI love how you caught both the rainy and not rainy views! Artistically, I prefer the second one, it's like a painting!
ReplyDeleteP.S.: however sweet the dresses on VDP may look, don't forget there was a stifling corset under them! :-)
Oh, that sure is some rain, Grace!
ReplyDeleteDunno if you´re a Simpson´s-fan but I so love the "lighthouse-episode".
Homer is looking for his "real" Soulmate there, and certainly Marge it is, after all, and she prevents him from doing something very stupid in the Springfield-lighthouse. And they find their love back again. Hot-Pants are included ;-) Well, afterwards!
It's ironic you put this pic up Grace, as for weeks now I've been hunting for lighthouse inspired decor to go with my theme. But alas I need crashing waves and foaming oceans to go with it!

A cool pair of pics, Grace! There is something romantic about a lighthouse.
ReplyDeleteThat's a different kind of lighthouse!
ReplyDeleteI like the light reflection in the first shot.
ReplyDeleteWow. The top picture immediately reminded me of Winslow Homer. Beautiful seascape.
ReplyDeletegreat composition of the first shot. and the rainy look of the second is wonderful - glad you were safely tucked up inside with your coffee.
ReplyDeleteGosh, Grace, you are just so artistic . . .
ReplyDeletecool!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo through the rain Grace.
ReplyDeleteLovely view from the cafe. Stay dry!
ReplyDeleteAwesome wharf.
ReplyDeleteA study in contrasts in these two wonderful images Grace. I love the way the rain has blurred the image in the second photo. Monet would be impressed.
ReplyDeleteNice shot, particularly the rain-soaked second image. Keep dry!

Kuantan nature photos
AH! That's more like normality!
ReplyDeleteLove the sea and lighthouse!
I can't see any rain anymore, we have enough here. When I watch Perth I expect to see sun...
ReplyDeleteThere is something rather romantic about a lighthouse.
ReplyDeleteFun in the rain.
ReplyDeleteoh Gracie, that rain drenched window shot is awesome ...
ReplyDeleteNice shots. Both together they capture the moment perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThere's something truly beautiful about these two shots.. love them
ReplyDeleteI like very much these shots.Kisses from Italy
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love the contrast between them. What a lovely moody atmosphere and the 2nd shot looks like a painting! I'm sure the cafe must've been extra cozy when the skies threw down like that:)
ReplyDeleteWow what a awesome picture. The contrast of the two is really unique
ReplyDeleteMy son loves lighthouses--I'll make sure he sees this!
ReplyDeleteLighthouses are always fascinating for me, awesome pictures, Grace!
ReplyDeleteThe contrast between 1st and 2nd is great!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
