9 - 18mm view.....

On the way home from an appointment in Subiaco yesterday I pulled in at Lake Monger to test out my new wide angle M.Zuiko 9-18mm lens (exciting much!) Looking south across the lake to the city I took the first two shots before changing to the 12-50mm to catch a closer look at the city reflections in the smooth surface of the lake.....
I was hoping to catch a shot of one or two of the black swans that inhabit Lake Monger but this time had to make do with a pair of old Coots :) ducking and diving for food in the shallows! Btw it IS winter here in Perth, I don't know what it's like in the eastern states, but just check out those big blue Perth skies..just saying haha! Hope you had a good weekend...happy Tuesday, um! what happened to Monday :) take care.....

  2. The lens and the pictures you took are amazing, such detail! I love the gradual pulling-in to the cityscape. And they may not be black swans but they are just as sweet a pair:) (Also, loved the story of carpet-buying, haha, I almost succumbed to an amazing carpet in Morocco long ago, but my student-budget said no!;-)

  8. How does one spell envious? "An 9-18mm wide-angle lens!" These are superb photos and that lens got the colors right and the exposure perfectly!

  16. Lenses are fun but can get to be an expensive habit. All of my Chicago pictures were taken with the E-M5 almost all with the Olympus 14-42 mm lens.

  17. "...a pair of old coots". I don't believe I've ever seen one, young or old. Don't know if we have the feathered kind in the U.S. We definitely have the "old" kind.

  20. Your first photo really impressed me. The variation in the intensity of blue in both the sky and the reflection remind me of old Japanese woodcuts. Ergo, wow!!

  23. Love Lake Monger.. and your lovely captures of it.
I have lens envy.. and possibly camera envy too as the one I use doesn't have an interchangeable lens.

Taking photos is pure joy eh x

  26. We have a 10-24 mm lens and quite like it. Sometimes in tight urban spaces, or in slot canyons outdoors, it is the only way to capture the scene.

  27. There are some blue skies overhere too at the moment. Keep our fingers crossed.
