The skies were thunderous over the city yesterday. As we drove over the Narrows Bridge (super pic of the bridge) to a birthday party on the other side of the world river the rain bucketed down for all of ten minutes before we emerged into the sunlight once again, a little like going through a parallel universe and out again.. I should think :)
We were heading for Coogee Beach Marina but missed the turn-off and were almost at Rockingham before P would admit we were lost and turned on the GPS, never again will we come South of the river without technical help :) but I did rather like this shot as we drove past the Alcoa refinery, I call it 'when nature meets industry' :) the smoke from the refinery funnels almost indiscernible from the clouds in the sky! We left home with time to spare and arrived three quarters of an hour late.. better late than never oui :) Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
Fabulous first photo Grace. We've been having some strange weather, can't believe it's almost summee and atill so cool. That was quite a long way to go for Coogee. Men can be stubborn when it comes to directions, lol. I use my gps regularly.
ReplyDeleteJust the the way I like my rain showers... short and sweet.
ReplyDeletePS: Before GPS... I now wonder how I ever did it with maps.
A brooding first shot. That looks like a drenching.
ReplyDeleteDramatic.
ReplyDeleteActually these kind of days have their beauty too! I know silly right.
ReplyDeleteAh Pacific weather! [Indian Ocean?]
ReplyDelete...what a fun drive!
ReplyDeleteI love that menacing sky in the first shot and that water soaked second shot. Sometimes it's fun to get a bit lost.
ReplyDeleteJust like Florida! Buckets of rain and a minute's distance later: no rain and the weather is nice and sunny. GPS or not looks like a nice trip. My Garmin GPS gets me lost more than a free ap on my cell phone.
ReplyDeleteLove that second water drenched window shot. It gives the atmosphere in one shot perfectly. The first one a bit and the last one not.
ReplyDeletethese photos of rain from the passenger compartment of the car are very impressive. I wish you a good week, Gracie.
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic sky in the first photo. Wonderful shot of the rain drenched window. I assume you weren't the driver.
ReplyDeleteThat was one heavy downpour, Grace! Glad you finally made it!
ReplyDeleteRain like that around here is called a Toad Strangler..
ReplyDeleteNo rain or snow for us in North Idaho.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Nothing worse than trying to find your way in the rain and with someone who doesn't want to use technical help. (my driver is one of those).
ReplyDeleteCertainly was quite a downpour. A bit of kindred thinking last night, if you read my mural post today. The stress of trying to operate the sat nav under pressure when lost ensures I do use it now. It is handy for the speed and red light camera warnings too.
ReplyDeleteNZ has had much the same here too, the minute I think i can get outside in the sun it pours again.
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh, Grace :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, men have a hard time admitting they´re lost, LOL.
Oh, but the rain, soooo beautiful! No rain here for weeks and I need rainwater for my avo! Just frickin´ cold.
So beautiful pics.
ReplyDeleteWhat a range of skies here! Storms are fun when short and not pelting down hail to dint the car.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference the weather can make, as evidenced by your photos.

That was an adventures tour you had. That rain looks very bad!
ReplyDeleteNot fun driving in the rain, much the same here but also very cold! Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteGosto da segunda fotografia é impressionante.
