A memorable day..

Was happy with the shot above taken from the far side of Elizabeth Quay, long lens no tripod! The Remembrance Day Centenary Service held by the State War Memorial up in Kings Park.. the flag at half mast, as were all flags around the city yesterday. A Military Gun Salute fired on the half hour from 9am until seconds before the 11th hour to symbolise when the guns fell silent. Below by the Bell Tower along with many others to observe a minutes silence at 11am followed by the first public ringing of the Anzac Bell, installed in time especially for Remembrance Day. Somehow managed to cut off the top of the Bell tower, but you've seen it before right :) Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

  3. A very poignant day. Love those photos of your Remembrance Service. I've just come home from our remembrance.... outside in the cold, it's about 2C out there. Lots of wreaths being laid by local dignitaries. My good friend was the bagpiper. Somehow I always have tears running down my cheeks when I attend this event.
BTW regarding your comment, I meant the photo in the newspaper not the one on my blog. I've adjusted the wording now, to make it clearer.

  7. We must remember the past and honor those who are gone. Many veterans that I have known would never repeat either WWI or WWII or any other war.

  8. A moving moment, I am sure. Good work to capture the Kings Park ceremony. The Anzac Bell is really interesting.

  10. We were travelling on Sunday so missed the service in our town but I have seen a Facebook post of it. It seems like all of the towns and cities put in a particular effort this year.

  13. Certainly, a day to remember. We did a tour of the war graves in France a couple of years back. Not easy to accept that so many were killed. We both have many family names around so many of the cemeteries.
The local service/ceremony we have here is very poignant, every name of locals who never came back are read out annually, they are never forgotten.
    Have a good week Diane
