In Mount Hawthorn a couple of weeks ago to take some shots of Octogirl, I was thrilled to also find the above mural by Perth mural and sculpture artist Melski aka Mel McVee, check the link to see more of her incroyable art around the city and suburbs. The trams stopped running in 1958, the trolleybuses in 1969.. before I arrived in Perth, I would have loved to see them trundling through the city and suburbs. If you are interested you can read about Perth's trolleybuses here and Perth's tram history here. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...
That's a great one Grace. There's another one with trams painted by Mel in Mount Lawley, next to Mondo butchers.
ReplyDeletenice mural!! cool.. EW
ReplyDeleteVery colourful! We had street cars here, but they've been gone for decades now.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have much for trans here or mural. But hopeful we will have more in the feature.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
The mural sure brighten up a city!
ReplyDelete...so old school.
ReplyDeleteIt has a lovely nostalgic look. Great mural!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful mural , I like it very much!
ReplyDeleteNice find, Grace! Our streetcars are the backbone of transportation downtown - they move so many people quickly!
ReplyDeleteWhat brilliant colors used in this mural. I like this little slice of history.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking murals.
ReplyDeleteer, that's a Trolleybus, not a Tram, tsk!
ReplyDeleteI like the image on the mural that clearly shows the style of the trams. Too bad so any of these modes of transportation are no longer being used. They certainly did serve their purpose!
ReplyDeleteThose are fine looking bus murals. I have known several people who have worked as bus drivers, so I tend to notice them. These busses are like the ones I use to ride in Chicago back in the 1960s.
ReplyDeleteTrams are one of my favorite things. It's a beautiful mural but I wish we had them back again.
ReplyDeletehistoric murals are my favorite! love how colorful this one is!
ReplyDeleteThey're making a return here in D.C., bigly. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow pretty and so colorful too! We have a new trolley here, but I haven't been able to get a picture of it yet.
ReplyDeleteI like this one and it looks a bit retro.
ReplyDeleteAs art, I love them, but they really are not very tram like. Perhaps they are trolley buses that used to run along Wellington Street.
ReplyDeleteI think we all share nostalgia for early transportation. It reminds us of our yesteryear and, in retrospect, seems so much more efficient than what most cities offer now. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteHappy colors, Grace! Aww. I missed her cow (we missed some, sadly).
ReplyDeleteVery colorful mural!
ReplyDeleteQuite some mural that with retro busses on
ReplyDeleteFantástico.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.
