Sculpted by Japanese artist Takahiro Hirata in granite 'Arrowhead Dark Night Shine' .. In Japan 'an arrow has the meaning of a talisman shooting against evil spirits. Evil may come from outside but also appears from inside of one's self.. here a shining arrow breaks through darkness'. No Touching.. but oh my how strong the temptation was to touch those smooth sculpted edges, caught someone in the act below :)
At the art gallery last week the painting below by English artist L.S. Lowry titled 'The Rival Candidate' made me think of our State elections today.. although a street platform below versus a media platform today, the haranguing is the same :) Fortunately campaigning run-ups to our elections are only two months and a decision by WA's current Premier to align however tenuously with Australia's female version of Trump has made my vote somewhat easier..can't wait to see the outcome! Happy weekend, take care and stay safe...
I hope the election goes smoothly and rationally!
ReplyDeleteArrowhead is quite striking.
Cool sculpture! I like how it multiplies the reflections!
ReplyDeleteA phantastic sculpture with fascinating reflections!
ReplyDeleteIt will be hard to keep people from touching. Hope the election goes your way!
ReplyDeleteOne big arrowhead
ReplyDelete...you find the neatest artwork.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour and facets of the arrow head. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOne should never put up a sign that says, 'Don't touch!' That just inspires the crazies (10% of the population to do just that!) Good luck in the elections; you don't want anyone that has any of Trump's characteristics, beliefs or behavior!
ReplyDeleteThat sculpture, esp the side view, looks like an arrowhead.
ReplyDeleteWonderful artwork. Nice clicks.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
Wow - what an amazing sculpture!
ReplyDeleteThat sculpture looks very much like a pressure flaked obsidian point. Lovely facets.
ReplyDeleteThe sculpture reminds me of some kind of energising gem. Stunning
ReplyDeleteHehe, Lowell is totally right, Grace. I somewhere read people tend to ignore "not". "Stay off" might do the trick.
ReplyDeleteTrue, evil sometimes comes from the insight - beautiful artwork, was it smooth? ;-)
Sharp sculpture, elections here too...
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece of art. I would definitely want to feel it! ;)
ReplyDeleteNo touching????? But sculpture is meant to be touched isn't it? Maybe it's so sharp that they want to avoid being sued by people who cut themselves on the sharp edges????
ReplyDeleteThat arrow would be hard to resist! It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Good luck with the elections. We don't need any more versions of Trump, male or female. Come to think of it, a good place for that arrow might be right in front of the white house. I wonder if that would work.
ReplyDeleteThat's one big arrowhead!
ReplyDeleteCan we send you a big shipping crate to send it from the Indian Ocean to the banks of the Potomac?
ReplyDeletefabulous reflections in that giant arrowhead
