I miss those rose-breasted cockatoos!

I miss the flurry of grey and pink wings as the Galahs that were dedicated daily visitors to Cafe de Grace fought the rest of the gang to get to the seed trays. Am thinking my al-fresco aviators eatery may have to reopen for autumn/winter. Walking around the lake at Mawsons Park last week I spotted Mr & Mrs G pecking for tasty morsels in the bark of a eucalyptus tree, considering they were so high I'm not too unhappy with these shots. Mrs G is the closest to us here, you can tell it is she by her brown/red iris, whereas himself has an almost black iris. They make a lovely couple don't you think :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...

  1. When I was on vacation in Brisbane, a flock of Galahs flew overhead every morning and returned every evening. Glorious pink colour.

  2. Oh my gosh, I'd miss seeing these beauties too if I lived where they roam free. I do miss my peach-faced love birds very much. They are in the neighborhood but, they never seem to hang around where I live now. It was a perfect day yesterday to have all the windows and door open and I just loved hearing all the chirping going on outside. There is just something calming about the sound of birds.

  3. Wow, Grace, you are so lucky to have such beautiful and intelligent birds around. Do not be disappointed with your photos. I think they are great. Birds are always tricky to photograph, and you got fine shots.

I think the cafe needs to reopen, you need the pictures of birds to brighten winter.

  10. Gee, I suppose I'd miss them, too, if I'd ever heard of them before. Love the gray and pink style.

  11. Yes, please, re-open, Grace!
I did so, too, just mine weren´t half as spectecular visitors (and sadly the doves make their way, too, scaring the lille birds away despite I made a "wall").
    Keep the pics coming :-)

  13. The happy feathered couple seem to be just enjoying hanging on the bark together. And the bark detail looks great too.

  15. What a great photo's Grace, you captured them so well. Never see those colourful birds here. They are black and grey here as the skies.

  19. They are gorgeous! Living where I do, it is hard to believe some of the colors on your birds. We have nothing remotely close to those colors around here.

  20. Your feathered friends are utterly charming. I don't believe I've ever seen this shade of pink on an animal before. I'm bewitched.
