Eat chilli.. don't look like one!

Yesterday on a hot and humid day what else was there to do but.. eat chilli! At the Chilli and Avocado Festival usually held at Araluen but this year much closer to home just across the river from the city in South Perth in McCallum Park. As you can see below shade was at a premium :) luckily there are also many beautiful old trees in the park to shelter under and of course as always at outdoor events in our scorching heat.. sun-cream stalls above left!

So much hot.. my sister who loves chilli more than anyone I know tried it all.. the Devil's Tears below and more worrying the aptly named .. no I can't bring myself to write it :) in the second shot below.. we weren't sure if we should let her get back in the car to come home with us :)

Chilli wasn't the only hot 'stuff' there if you know what I mean :) yes I'm looking at you too Mr Crepe man!

After the hot it's time to cool down with an icy gelato, how cool are the silver toppers below.. and the cap!

... and this is what it was all about.. oh and avocados! Hope you're having a cooler weekend than I, our hot humid weather is beginning to take its toll! Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe...P.s. how hot do you like it.. chilli I mean!

  6. OOOOOO! A chilli festival! I have not been to one since moving to Florida. I do love making my own blend though. I'm the only person who would eat the chilli my attorney makes and he is the only one who will eat my special fire house chili. Ever hear of Blair's Instant Death Sauce? It'll add some kick to any dull chilli.

  7. I would go for medium hot but it has to be tasty too and not just hot! Love avocados too!

  8. Are you crazy? Chilli on a hot day? We have these "festival"s of over-spiced nonsense, too! Especially in Texas where most people are nuts to begin with. I admire the spunk but not the intelligence of those who feel it necessary to eat such stuff when there is real food available. In fact, if I were a god, I'd forgive them for this incredible lapse in taste and common sense because I'd be a nice god.

Nah, just kidding about all that. I'm OK with it, but like mine mild. Lois Anne likes hers mild and meatless but she's a vegetarian so I'm not sure her vote counts. Stay as cool as you are. BTW, that creepee guy does nothing for me.

  9. Can't believe all the heat you are getting. We have a little followed by rain and cool. (I am sitting here with a jacket on.) But it is supposed to heat up mid week. No wonder there are so many colds around. Not sure I could go near chili on a hot day.

  10. Chili sounds good. So does that gigantic jar of Nutella!

  11. Avocado: good. Chili: well, it depends. I still don't understand why people eat things that cause pain.

BTW, the next to last picture has great composition.

  14. I will exchange weather with you happily tho' yesterday was quite reasonable at 20C, sadly it has not lasted until today!
We love chillies, had such a big crop a couple of years back we will not need to grown any more for some time. Still have masses dried and frozen!! Keep cool, Diane

  16. SO like Honolulu - only bigger and better to my eye. In Answer to your Q: how could I miss Hawaii when it is such a big part of me and who I am? It's just 'over there' and I'm in touch with my pals and family there just as much. (well, no coffees or lunches...:( Sure, sometimes I get a funny feeling in my gut [Na`au] seeing a familiar place on TV, or remembering. But then I think it is my youth spent there that I'm really nostalgic for :) Marin and the Bay Area are world class special and the nature is AMAZING here every day around my house and area. But sure.... only after we leave these dear body-vehicles and return to our natural vast greatness will we be able to be every age and in every place and with everyone we love with no parting. Not a scary thing to look forward to. Though our sojourn here is SO magical and important and to be savored to the extreme! Love you Grace. In case you didn't get that LOL <3

  17. I used to be able to take the hot stuff pretty well but I'm finding that's one of the things that wanes out with age. Now I'm always buying the 'mild' stuff. Avocados are another thing all together. I could eat avocados every day.

  18. Oh its' cooler here for sure, even the snow decided to come back. Medium hot for me too, not too spicy, and what silly names they have!

  19. The weather obviously matches the heat of the chili. Some pretty humorous comments here.
