She was ridin' along on a push bike honey...

....she was singing this song (ear-worm alert).. go on I dare you :) A sight common enough I'm sure in Paris, Amsterdam and other cities but it occurred to me when I impulsively took these shots while on St. Georges Terrace a few days ago that I don't recall seeing anyone other than the bike police or bike couriers riding around the city on two wheels. It was the flash of yellow that caught my eye, then those gorgeous boots :) but it was more than her stylish attire, it was her air of confidence.. she totally owned that space! As the lights changed she rounded the corner and disappeared down onto busy William St. I take my hat off to her, she is a braver woman than I! Do you ride a bike in your city? Happy weekend, take care and stay safe... p.s. I hope you're humming that happy song :)

  1. One doesn't usually see a bike being ridden by someone in shoes like that.

There's no way I'm exposing myself to an ear worm tune! :P

  2. Thanks for sharing this sighting! I have secretly given up on two wheels (for now - no motorcycles!)

  3. There are cyclists all over Toronto especially downtown, Grace! I haven't ridden my bike in years.

  5. She does look very confident and I believe that is one of those fold up bikes. She can fold it up to the size of a briefcase and take right up to her office with her. I don't ride a bike any longer but I have a friend who does all the time. I got rid of my bike when I moved last time. My place is on the top floor of my building so I'd have to manage it up and down elevators or stairs. I decided to give it up.

    1. I love this woman, she looks so nice and funny. But if I would be in a car behind her, I would not really love her.. :D
We have lots of bikes in Helsinki, and also they want to do it much more bike friendly city.

  6. A wonderfully delightful series of photos! Love some people who are able to go about being themselves without worrying what other people think...

We ride our bikes quite often, not to get somewhere, but for exercise - usually a 5 - 8 mile route. But we're out of the city. You would be crazy to ride your bike in Ocala as you'd probably get run down by some redneck in a huge pickup listening to country music and texting on his phone! :)

  7. Hi Grace. Re your comment on Ocala: I'm with you about the name, but then again, I do like pork which is pig! :) Babybacks refers for pork ribs. They are very tasty. I've had a Philly Cheese steak sandwich there, and pulled pork as well as sliced pork sandwiches and they have all been quite good.

  8. Nearly everybody uses bikes in Cambridge, including lots of overseas visitors who have no idea what they're doing! It's not easy to look so poised and stylish on those funny bikes with little wheels.

  9. Good on her, not something I would want to do in a city

  10. She is one brave woman and no I don't trust drivers to ride a bike on the road. Don't even own a bike. I left my feet do the walking. Didn't want a song added to all the ones I deal with now :)

  11. I used to ride the bike round London but I would not do it now.
There again I have trouble getting it on the back streets of this wastlend....

  12. We noticed a number of cyclists in the city. One rescued my hat when it blew off and cartwheeled down King Street. He simply stopped his bike on it.

  13. I would need a bigger bike than that one! She is brave.

  14. It is not such an unusual sight for us to see a bike in the streets :) She is riding a foldable bicycle, we both have one, but I prefer by my daily bike.
She is really making a statement with that long skirt and that huge bottom!

  15. Just today, Grace, I got the bike out of the cellar to visit Ingo in hospital - my muscles will be sour tomorrow, I suppose. Love the yellow!

  16. I live in a college town so lots of bikes. Too crowded for me. I only bike on peaceful rural roads or parks.

  17. I am not a bike rider, but so admire those who dare the traffic and keep on riding. Having said that, I am looking forward to seeing my son in Queensland later in the year. And my request? I want a ride with him on his motorbike. It's on my bucket list.

  18. Can you ride with heels like that ?

    Great photo's though.

    All the best Jan
