It was a grey day when I took these shots, grey but not cold.. about 21C if I remember rightly. You don't see South of the river here very often but coming back from Victoria Park on Saturday we stopped to get some city views over the lakes on the South Perth foreshore. If you pull the shot below right in, reeeally right in :) you can just make out the new sculpture at Elizabeth Quay. I believe they have big problems here with people feeding the bird life on the lakes resulting in sick and even dying birds, there are signs everywhere.. don't do it people!
In the background below you can see the Narrows Bridge which crosses from North to South over the Swan River.. and up there on the hill the State War Memorial in Kings Park. It's definitely spring weather here in Perth.. rain one day sun the next. Perfect weather for planting trees, I'll have to decide soon :) Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe... p.s. so weird to post such dark images :)
Beautifully framed shots, Grace, particularly the first one. This looks like a lovely area for a stroll.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely area
ReplyDeleteAgain, I'm impressed with the beauty of Perth. No need to discount these photos, they are splendid and have a certain magic all their own.
ReplyDeleteFolks love to feed the birds, even if they put a sign up.
ReplyDeleteI started to know Perth through your blog .. very nice pictures EW
ReplyDeleteGray weather but beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteWe don't often see grey skies from you, Grace! Super shots!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures make me want to come to your country even more than before. You all have life RIGHT! You respect history and continue to offer to your citizen the beauty of the arts to come. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. I so wish I was the person on the bicycle pedaling around that lake. It is so pretty. Loved seeing your photos today. genie
ReplyDeleteLovely set of photo. I like your perspective on the city views, great framing.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to make people change their behavior.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures, I like the slightly panoramic shape. The top two are my favourites...
ReplyDeleteGreat views. I think your skyline looks great from every direction. Like here in the desert, I'm not used to seeing clouds in the sky over Perth but, it does make a nice change when it happens.
ReplyDeleteIt really was inspirational to build the war memorial where in the park and visible from the north and south banks of the river.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots Grace, even with the gray weather. There are signs here warning people not to feed the birds, but they do it anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou got it - wild animals need wild food. Quite a bit prettier than South St. Louis.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. My favorite 3rd pic.
ReplyDelete"..Not cold 21C!" That's 70% in real terms woman!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks bright to me...
An almost wild parkland shown there, a good idea as this will bring in wildlife.
Lovely idea but only two ducks seen?
21C is what we call SUMMER up here in the north:) Looks like a nice and peaceful place.
ReplyDeleteA brisk walk on a grey day is good for the soul.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely and calm and nice to see you have grey days sometimes Grace :-)
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see other people do have those grey skies too sometimes:) We have sun now!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool place you live in. And grey days? I often turn those shots into B&W since there's so little color in them anyway.
ReplyDeleteThis area of South Perth is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the city tour, almost as good as being their. I have the sudden urge to grab my bike, but I must get ready for work!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Grace, unusual dark pics - I so hope for a bit of rain when we´re back - please more than 90 seconds!
ReplyDeleteSunny today, 13C - but waaay more expected (not only from me) :-)
Oh, finally a few GRAY pics of your wonderful city, Grace ! :)
ReplyDeleteNo matter what the weather - it looks great!
ReplyDeleteGray day or not, you took some beautiful photos Grace!
ReplyDeleteLove the Autumn colours! Wow a 30mt tree is huge! What about a Frangipani or an Olive tree?
ReplyDeleteThe presence of water in your photos add lots of interest to your snapshots
