Yesterday while walking around Claremont a gentleman with a tiny burst of sunshine on his shoulder stepped out ahead of us! We stalked followed him as he crossed the road and entered a shop. He gave me the slip there for a while, think he knew I was after him :) so when I re-spotted him I braved up and asked if I could take a photo, to which he happily agreed, although I think he was a little shy. So overcome by my courage :) I forgot to ask names, but the two had been friends together for over six years. This little beauty is a South American Sun parakeet, you can see how very different its colours are to my grumpy garden breakfast guests!
Don't think I would have made a super sleuth, I suspect he knew he was being followed :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe... p.s. I know right! A red suit and we'd have a perfect Santa!
Two good friends, I see!
ReplyDeletewhat a good looking fellow, he looks a lot like me
ReplyDeletewhat a nice street life moment!! ew
ReplyDeletePleasure to see!
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy sweet little friend to carry about!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture! The bird is probably telling him, "let that woman take your photo and then she'll be on her way".
ReplyDeleteAt first I just noticed the long beard and wondered why you were following him...on close inspection I noticed the bird. Cute.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet man, indeed a Santa! Those birds are so wonderful coloured.
ReplyDeleteHe must be used to attention, Grace! It is quite sweet to see their friendship.
ReplyDeleteI bet he just uses the bird to attract the ladies. ;-) Nice post and yes he would make a great Santa or better yet a pirate !
ReplyDeleteA good start to your new career as a street portrait photographer Grace.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds. I would be delighted to have such colorful guest for breakfast in the morning. Watch out of guys with birds on their shoulders. They could be pirates.
ReplyDeleteThey are a perfect looking couple!
ReplyDeleteYou immediately think it is one of our parrots until you look closer.
ReplyDeleteI love these colorful parrot, but you were stalking him - all for a good cause, of course. I did the same thing a couple of years ago in one of our flea markets when I saw a rather strange-looking fellow walking about with a parrot on his shoulder. He was also friendly and let me take a pic. I think when you see a photo subject and you follow after it, that cannot be considered stalking. That's simply being a good photographer! Oui?
ReplyDeleteI overheard him say, "You should see the babe my bird and I picked up today!"
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique, fun and nice posting:)
ReplyDeleteThey look very sweet together.
ReplyDeleteLovely bird :) Nice pics.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff!
ReplyDeleteYour pic of the birds is excellent.
Love your description of the sun parakeet Grace, "a little burst of sunshine". Perfect to describe this colourful bird. Good on you for asking for a photo and so good that he obliged.
ReplyDeleteWow, Grace, that 1st photo is unique !
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were persistent and got the top shot. And, the lorikeet shot is great too. I still think it's fantastic that you have such colorful birds hanging out in your garden. When I was a little kid, we used to have a parakeet and it loved my mother. It would do the same thing, sit on mom's shoulder or her pen when she was trying to write.
ReplyDeleteyou make me laugh! love the photo of the friends...and you stalking pictures crack me up! have a great weekend grace! oh, by the way, i thought of you while watching tv the other day...i like that show "house hunters international" and there was a lady moving to perth with her 4 boys! i kept looking for places i'd recognize!
ReplyDeleteI am soooo for the birds! Love these, Grace!
ReplyDeleteToo cute.
ReplyDeleteYay for braving up Grace! And such a cute couple, too!
ReplyDeleteI saw a dude on a very, very cool Harley push-bike.... standing in position to start again. And... I wanted to... but I couldn´t make myself ask. I was so darn disappointed of myself. Again.
What a wonderful sight. Adore that first photo of the man and his bird friend. They look connected.
ReplyDeleteOh those lorikeets! The whole story made me laugh and your top photo is fantastic. I can't believe the guy walked into a Coles store with the bird on his shoulder. Is that ok?
