Sundowners with Henry..

Sundowners with a view, or three! Looking straight out from Henry's Rooftop bar, top floor of the new Reveley complex at Elizabeth Quay to the peak of Kings Park.. and to the left below, the sun going down over twilight sailing just beyond the Elizabeth Quay Bridge, a bit of an unexpected bonus...

To the right the city, the glow from the setting sun mirrored in the glass fronts of the high-rise along the Esplanade. You may recognize the buildings on either side of the sculpture Spanda from Saturday's post here. It looks pretty quiet down there, that's because it was only 6pm. A few hours later the quay would be filled with Fringe World and Chinese New Year revelers and I would be snuggled up at home with a cup of tea, last of the party-animals that's me :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe...

Mr Fox on William..

Second down on The Urban List's '17 Perth Breakfasts You Need To Eat in 2017' is Mr. Fox on William. Aimee's pick for her birthday breakfast on Saturday. Lots of quirky features, like the Alice in Wonderland playing cards for table numbers below, in this fairly newish eatery in Northbridge. Below my own Aimee in Wonderland taking a pic of her birthday breakfast.. Mac 'n Cheese Waffles with crunchy fried chicken.. there's a much better pic than mine on The Urban List link above. I'm pretty rubbish at taking food photos, any tips? Hope you had/are having a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe... P.s. would have liked to ask who painted the tres suave Mr. Fox, but the waitstaff were so busy serving fabulous food :)

The mermaid and the merman..

Sounds like the title of a poem :) In the city for Fringe World it was a delight to see the two youngsters here having so much fun interacting with Fringe World's mermaid and merman. Above, how super cool to hi-five a merman right!

Below, a selfie with a mermaid and merman.. absolutely! One of the only times a selfie is totally justified!

Ears pressed against glass below listening to mer'singing'.. I wonder if it sounded anything like this, I really hope so. The mermaid/man will be there in the Pleasure Garden at 4/6 and 7pm until the 19th Feb.. if you are in the city with the kids they would love it, I'm owning up.. I loved it too :) Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe...

Happiness is clouds reflected..

However you feel about modern glass skyscrapers you have to agree they are wonderful cloud catchers. I'm not sure if Wesfarmers House above at only 12 storeys qualifies as a skyscraper, whereas The Quadrant building below might just scrape in with 21 levels. On either side of William St. and The Esplanade they were splendidly attired in their cloudette cloaks :) Happy weekend, take care and stay safe... P.s. it's Aimee's birthday today, we're off for a scrumpsh brekkie!

Sharon from Canada..

'Polite, patriotic, politically correct and extremely passive aggressive'.. that's Sharon from Canada. In the city for Fringe World on Wednesday evening we were pulled in by the loud, confident, funny and altogether charming Canadian accent! It was a small crowd to start with but as with all successful comedians timing is everything and as the audience poured out after the show in Salon Perdu she was ready and waiting to draw them into the fold :)

Choosing four men from the audience.. and very nice picks they were :) she began the transformation from 'Sharon go Canada'..

To sexy Tallulah juggling fire sticks atop the shoulders of her hunky helper! You will have to pull the shots in a bit to see the expressions on the faces of her 'volunteers'.. priceless, but they were all really good sports and followed orders enthusiastically. I have so much admiration for stand-up comics, especially as in this case Sharon from Canada didn't have a ticketed audience, it was her wit and determination that drew in the crowds and their donations that paid her way. I'm darn sure I couldn't do it, what about you?  Happy Friday, take care and stay safe...

Connect(us)..

We were in the city last night for Fringe World .. so many pics to edit! On the way back to the car we passed through Kings Square to see how the sculptures I pictured here looked lit up at night, big fail, lights not on! I was consoled by the sight of Connect(us) (fabulous pics on link) which looks stunning at night, along with the lighting on the surrounding buildings. The 110mt suspended sculpture by Australian artist Warren Langley and industrial designer Trent Baker features 'an inner concealed, sustainable light source. This allows the work to undergo a soft, subtle colour shift – from yellow by day, to the ochres and rusty reds of the Western Australian landscape by night'. When the Perth City Link Project is finished this area is going to be amazing. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. big catch up today!

CDP Theme Day.. Loving life!

Blue skies, turquoise water and a group of energetic young people 'loving life' reaching up in a celebration of dance. I was lucky enough to be at Sorrento Quay at the same time the young dancers from Vogue Performers were filming a segment of their 2017 video, the marina just one of the popular locations to be used. If you have three minutes you can watch Vogue Performers 'undercover dance project 2016' video here.. see how many places you recognize from here on the blog :)

I know I know, I never miss an opportunity to slip in a shot of my gorgeous granddaughter :) but  this image is the epitome of 'loving life'.. who doesn't love to fly like a bird, even if it is only for a few seconds! Looking very much forward to seeing happy images from around the world, we can all do with a bit of  'loving' right now!  Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe...
