If you check out
the map of the Perth Zoo you'll see that just before you exit the zoo there's a small lake, which I find impossible to bypass no matter how many times I've been to the zoo. Amongst the other birds and creatures that abide in this watery haven are the Percy Pelicans. I love them, they are weird and wonderful creatures and look twice as nice in their reflections, each time I hope to catch one either landing or taking off, but as yet no luck, next time I might just be patient and actually sit and wait, camera at the ready! I quite liked this 'Percy and pal' shot below, we could learn a lesson or two about living in harmony oui! If you're 'hanging' with a pal this weekend, enjoy, take care and stay safe.....
You can show me lots of pictures of your different bird-life. So interesting to see the ones we don't get here.
ReplyDeleteSo very beautiful, both shots!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always so different! I've always found pelicans to be not only fearless but also extremely curious, so no surprise this one was checking out his reflection!
ReplyDeleteI do love your bird shots and what a handsome guy he is!! No wonder he's checking out his appearance in the water! Got to keep a smooth feather-do if you want to attract the ladies!! Have a fun, safe and wonderful weekend, Grace!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot of the Pelican.....and that unknown bird in your pic:) A new one for me:)!!! Love that reflection in the first shot. It has a fantasy quality to it.
ReplyDeleteYou think about Snow white, I was thinking of "Alice in wonderland" when I saw your first pic; I find it really fabulous!I absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a nice week-end!
I wish I were as photogenic as the Percy! Then I wouldn't have to avoid mirrors!
ReplyDeleteLovely captures Grace!
ReplyDeleteWell they are prettier than I am at the moment! :-)
ReplyDeleteIf I looked that good, I'd be admiring my reflection too! :)) Love the feel of these pictures, and so sweet to see birds of varied feathers hanging out in the second. (Love that zoo map, takes me back to childhood! Visited the Honolulu zoo last week for the first time in years and was welcomed by a big colorful map:)
ReplyDeleteI love both of these shots Grace! Especially the reflection.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful is that first photo, magic!
ReplyDeleteYes when I look through my photos there is and endless amount of Pelicans, even on my phone as I always take photos of them on my walk.
Have a great weekend.
Merveilleuses photos !!!

both are priceless!
ReplyDeleteSuper shots of Percy and his pal. Capturing the reflection is excellent.
ReplyDeleteThe first shot is one of the best reflection pictures I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
That looks a good spot for such pics. The birds look very placid.
ReplyDeleteSo funny and I think you were having a lot of fun! Great shots, both of them!
ReplyDeleteahaha) really funny birds))

You gotta wonder what the pelican thinks when he sees his reflection. "My, what a handsome devil" or "Crikey, there's new competition in town." Either way, you've got to love the expression.
ReplyDeleteGrace that would be a great weekend reflection photo! Beautiful
ReplyDeleteSo bright, crisp and FUN!

That first shot just stunning.
ReplyDeleteOh Gracie...these are great! I do believe that first fellow is admiring his exquisite beak
ReplyDeletelove the photos Grace, the first one is specially amazing! I´m going to the Perth zoo for the first time to watch a concert, which should be fun.
ReplyDelete110 out of 100 for that top shot Grace. The reflection is wonderful. Great clarity. I like the way the shape of those pointed white wing feathers is repeated in the palm fronds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful reflection. He looks better in that than in reality indeed.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he is really admiring himself in that first picture! Very cute.
ReplyDeletebrilliant shot!
ReplyDeleteLots of excellent shots Grace.
ReplyDeleteWow, especially the 1st photo is fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat terrific shots these are. That one looking at his reflection is so great. When I go to California, I really enjoy watching the pelicans fly overhead. The are so graceful looking in the air and a bit awkward looking on the ground.
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
Two first class photos today, Grace. The top photo is a classic. It really looks like he is loving his own reflection.
ReplyDeleteI've been compared to a pelican... both having BIG mouths. I take exception though. hahahahah
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos and post, as always, Gracie.
ReplyDeleteI particularly liked the first photo: Percy looks like a statue and I love the 'mis en scene' - almost film-like! Sue C xx
I really like both shots but the reflections on the top one are just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLa n°5 est ma préférée, très belle !
ReplyDeleteWonderful reflection! He's a beauty, and he knows it!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, so cute...:)
