All aboard the Captain Cook.....

I took this shot from high up in Kings Park, looking straight down onto Riverside Drive and  the Barrack Street Jetty.  From this busy jetty you can take a Captain Cook cruise (worth checking out!)  to Fremantle, or upstream to the Swan Valley wine region, actually while researching this I discovered that there are so many fabulous trips to take on this cruiser, the one that caught my eye was the trip from Fremantle up to Perth on Australia Day to watch the Skyshow fireworks from on the river, hmm! I'm definitely going to check that one out for the 26th of this month!! It's also the spot to catch the ferry bus across to South Perth and the Zoo, and for Perthites living south who work in the city to get to work and back. Just off to the left in the shot you can see the Bell Tower, but that's a whole other story!   Surely it can't be Thursday already, where did this week go.....!!

  5. I like the geometry of the buildings and then the plane of water. This week is going by fast, but then it's a 3 day weekend for us in the states so this is good!

  7. Beautiful view of this watery area! What really surprised me though is seeing a mountain in the background! I always imagined that Perth was flat!

  9. Perth seems like a pretty, modern city. Having the ferries in front of those tall buildings adds some life as well as some convenience.

(Feeling guilty that Hawaiians killed the great navigator in a scuffle over a "stolen" boat. . .)

  15. I agree Grace, where has the week gone. I guess time flies when you are having fun. Great shots. I like the crispness in the top photograph. All those tiny windows make look a bit like lego land.

  19. Maybe it's just me but I am not keen on modern city views. There is something either boring or empty about them. I think 'empty heart' sums it up possibly. Increasingly I look to older buildings and only want trendy ones elsewhere, possibly at the seaside where they appear to fit, or just far from me.
Age is a terrible thing as you will find when you pass thirty girl.

  20. Agree Grace, amazing how time flies. Great city panorama and interesting comings and goings across the river. Wish though that we were able to have more river transport options.

  23. Times begins to fly faster as you get older. Suddenly, there are all these things you didn't do and now there is very little time to do them. I call it the ball of string. Life is like that. There is an end and a beginning. The vessel is never half full it is always half empty or less than full.
