Ever since it began in 1994 every cup of tea sipped at a 'Biggest Morning Tea' event held all around Australia in the month of May, has to date raised over $100 million dollars ($8 million in WA). I have to say those statistics blew me away (last year alone $11.2 million dollars), I knew it was Cancer Council Australia's most popular and fun way to raise money, but that is outstanding and makes me extremely proud to be Australian! For the last few years I've been lucky enough to get an invite to Jenny's 'tea' which was held on Saturday, the weather was perfect (25C), the company delightful, the cakes delicious, all made by Jenny, served on the prettiest plates..ahh! the joy of eating cake without guilt. It's such a simple yet brilliant way to raise funds, I was wondering if similar annual events occur in other countries. Hope you have a good start to the new week, stay safe.....

Those cakes look exceptionally decadent, Grace. We seem to be a nation capable of giving when it is required.
ReplyDeleteYou just can't beat a good cuppa and a slice of home made cake, heavenly :-).
ReplyDeleteWonderful where alike is possible.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good new week ahead.
Ohlala quels gâteaux :):):)
ReplyDeleteBonne semaine !!!
Working in the hospital with many cancer patients, we promote the 'Biggest Morning Tea'. I am always blown away by the amount of money raised...and it is such a simple and very effective way to get funds whilst keeping everyone happy and well fed!
ReplyDeleteLove this event too.Looking forward to it at school this week. Fiona
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous event, Grace. It has a wonderful concept and of course it has been amazingly successful. (Nice pix, too.)
ReplyDeleteOoh, temptation. We have a small proportion of tea drinkers in this country, as you may know, but the sweets will take lots of partners. Easy to save the calories: they look too beautiful to eat.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea Grace! We have no event similar to this here. Most of the fundraisers for cancer research etc here involve walks or runs. A tea is a good idea since many people don't walk log distances or run. I love a good cuppa!
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic (just LOVE those spoons). We have a couple of 'Biggest' later in the merry month of May.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event. The treats look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea - better than the walks we have here...the cakes look yummy too! Hope your week is off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteThese events are great, I believe they exist in Britain, not in France though. Oh I've put on weight just looking at these beauties!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea tht the "Biggest Morning Tea" had raised that amount of money Grace ... Exquisite detail on that slice of rose cake ... Yum!
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful fundraiser. Your friend certainly put on a wonderful spread. Great idea to spread the word via these terrific blog photos Grace.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous looking "High" Tea Grace. And what a wonderful way for the community to get involved in supporting the Cancer Council.
ReplyDeletetea and cakes you say?! why didn't you invite me earlier?! ^0^
ReplyDeletethat's just so english and what a gracious way to

Everything looks just perfect!
ReplyDeletegood thing I had lunch ... looks so yummy
ReplyDeleteLOVE this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful details and an important event!
Well done!!
We tend to go in for fundraising walks and marathons and the like here. Funny, considering how fat we Americans are getting! You'd think all these walks and 5Ks would whittle away at our waistlines! I like the idea of a country-wide eating event. :)
ReplyDeleteohh yuuummm !! those cupcakes look scrumptious !!
ReplyDeletehello!,I like your writing so so much! proportion we keep
