Black Swans and French drama.....!

The Black Swan is a feature on many WA emblems the most well known being the Flag of Western Australia and the WA Coat of Arms. If you have a quick check out of this link, look to the right of the page you will see that the Black Swan is fairly rampant around Perth. These cast iron lamp posts were designed especially for the Horseshoe Bridge which was built in 1903, one standing at the Northbridge entrance and the other on the city side. I think they look very dramatic with their bright red beaks and hopefully all the rain that we've had in the last few days will wash away those cobwebs!! Talking about dramatic.. the movie I mentioned yesterday 'Cafe de Flore' wasn't at all what I expected, after a bit of a confusing start, it developed into an incredibly intense but thought provoking story, it's not 'light hearted', then again a lot of French movies aren't, but it's definitely worth seeing.  It's going to be a soggy weekend in Perth, I'm looking forward to it! Hope you have a good one.....!!

  2. I like to discover symbols of cities. The choice of black swan is very interesting! here, our bird is a red eagle.

  3. This is very similar to black swans in a statue in the centre of the old Sydney Hospital off Macquarie St on the walkway through the Domain down to the AG-NSW. I'll walk you down that way one time when you are over next. I went to Mary MacKillops Place last week with Rae.

  8. And Linda (previous commenter) did send your link to me. There's a black swan that frequents the river by our home. I've taken countless photos of him (I'm sure my readers are tired of seeing him...!)And I'm told that the owner originally had 7 black swans brought here - from Australia!
    Thanks for sharing.

  12. What a splendid lamp post, I love it! There is an escapee Black swan flying around York with the local Mute swans at present. Makes a very unusual sight in the UK. Enjoy your weekend.

  16. I find black swans to be very beautiful birds, and I find this statuary to be very beautiful, too.

Thanks for the info on the movie. Now, I've got to figure out how to see it as it is very unlikely to be shown in an Ocala theater!
