'Individuals not statistics'..

 'It is sometimes easy to generalise the 2,600 long term missing persons in Australia and lose the essence of the individual. The people captured in the statistic are not just ‘missing persons’, they are fathers and daughters, students, chefs and academics'.  

 It is National Missing Person Week (excellent link) nationwide this week. Bringing attention to the many people who go missing every year. The Yagan Square Digital Tower above, has been put to excellent use highlighting the profiles of eight long term missing persons from around the nation picked by the NMPCC. I can't imagine and hope I never have to find out how devastating it must be to have a family member or friend go missing. The not knowing would be unbearable. Hopefully initiatives like this may strike a memory that could bring some closure to relatives.Take care and stay safe..  

Iconic Freo..

Took these shots of the typically Fremantle scene painted in his distinctive style by local artist Shakey before we went to Sydney. There is a super video of the artist talking about the mural here. A collaboration between the artist, Old bridge Cellars and Gage Roads Brewing Co.it would be hard to squeeze in many more iconic Freo sights. The 'mechanical giraffes' in the harbour, the Dingo Flour Mill over to the middle left, there are so many details right down to a couple of bottles of the award winning pale ale 'Little Dove' cooling in the esky. A fence in the way made it tricky to take the shot, didn't want to leave Percy pelican out though :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

'And the crow once called the raven black'..

Whaaaat! Can't believe this angry crow is giving me attitude.. I'm not the one waking it up in the morning! Oh, maybe it's because it's fed up with me shouting buzz off you noisy crow when in fact apparently it is an Australian Raven. Impossible to tell the difference until I read that they travel in pairs (see below) and about the throat hackles :)

The Australian raven is one of the world's most intelligent creatures. I think they are a bit wicked also. I was surprised when we visited Pinnaroo Memorial Park over the weekend to see a pair of ravens swoop down and heckle the young kangaroo below, they pecked at it's tail until it hopped off, even then flying after it until mum kangaroo stepped in.. was extraordinary to observe. They do freak me out a little, especially when I walk out to my car in the morning and there is a line of ravens on the fence staring at me. I'm not scared of them, but I won't be watching Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds any time soon 😉Happy new week, take care and stay safe..

A Sunday bouquet..

A bouquet of soft coral, complete with fish and courtesy of my BIL who went on a dive trip to Bali in June . I spent the day in my jungle garden yesterday so was happy to have this super gorgeous shot from the underwater gardens of the Coral Triangle to share with you. Où est la pluie?

No! No! No! The sky is not meant to be blue, it's winter.. where is the rain? It was 25C in Perth today but just had a peek at the forecast and rain is predicted for tomorrow.. we'll see! I really shouldn't complain when there are so many extreme temperatures around the world. I wore my coat, gloves and scarf more in the short time we were in the Blue Mountains than I have during our whole winter so far.. maybe next week! Cloud reflections on St Georges Terrace. California BBU-507..

I couldn't resist the Burago 1957 Chevrolet Corvette when I saw it at the Polka Dot Vintage Market at the weekend. In pretty good condition considering its age, and my favourite colour 💙 It is weighty and solidly built, the doors, bonnet and boot, complete with spare tire, all in working condition. It's so cool I love it. What would you do, would you leave it in the condition it is after 62 years or would you restore it? I can't decide but it might be fun to restore it. I exercised much control at the market but I know my grandson will have a lot of fun playing with this when they come over at Christmas. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Lady in the black top hat..

We arrived home in time for one of our, and by our I mean mine and Aimee's, definitely not P's :) favourite markets, the Polka Dot Vintage Market. Combining vintage, hand made and antiques it is a veritable treasure trove, mainly of sights for moi due to the minimalist thing, but it certainly is fascinating looking. I had no idea at the time that the theme for CDP'ers was black but how fortuitous that the lady in the black top hat and coat, first spotted below, turned and gave me a gorgeous smile. I think she looks super cool, love the jaunty feather in her top hat 😎 Looking forward to seeing more interpretations of the theme, happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..
