Heaven scent.....!
For me the smell of Freesias is the quintessential smell of Spring, I love it and always try to have a vase of them in the house for as long as they're in season. Not far from where we live we have an area of bushland called Pinneroo Heights, Aimee and I often pass through there on our evening walks, as we did yesterday just as the sun was setting. Every Spring it's like walking through a magical, wonderfully scented garden, there are huge spreads of wild freesias with the odd wild orchid here and there, did I mention the scent....!! It's against the law in Australia to pick wildflowers thank goodness, it leaves them pristine to enjoy as you pass through and anyway it's only a few dollars to buy the commercially grown flowers...Is there a particular flower that reminds you of the different seasons.....? Rain in Perth today, excellent we need it.....

Spring is beautiful. Full of flowers. This period will now envy. Shame it's not everywhere in the world ... Peter
ReplyDeleteWe will not see freesia until next March or February at the earliest so thank you for giving us a sample of this beautiful bed now... I can imagine its sweet fragrance.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
When I was growing up in Illinois, it was the sight and smell of lilacs that let me know that spring was here! In Arizona it's African daisies. They don't really smell but, they color the ground all over town.
ReplyDeletemerci pour ces photos bucoliques
ReplyDeleteElles sont jolies ces petites fleurs qui pointent leur nez pour annoncer le printemps. Ici, c'est bien souvent les coucous qui nous annoncent les beaux jours.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the english names, but for me , mimosas means february, they blossom here in the middle of our winter. And Lily-of-the-valley (muguet) is for spring.I like your pictures , they make me think of the movie poster of "Bright Star"(Jane Campion)
ReplyDeleteI too have always been enchanted by the Spring scents of freesias and also the scents of jasmine! Gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteOur late summer is still quite hot, I would like the idea of a real spring instead of autimn...
ReplyDeleteThe walk looks quite haunting!!!
ReplyDeletethank you for this delightful evening walk amid the scented freesias. here the scent of lilac has a similar effect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful path! Great shots of the lovely blooms too.
ReplyDeleteCould not agree more, I love them too!
ReplyDeleteLike the little orchid as well, have not seen them before..
It's against the law to pick wild flowers? How interesting! Your first photo looks like a scene from a nostalgic movie...the flowers are so pretty! Wish I could enjoy the aroma, too :-)
ReplyDeleteFlowers love rain...and umbrella´´s sellers too!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic this law, Australia is a civiliced country( here we are still killing the bull, and there are many people that says that it´´s art...it´´s a shame). I hate to cut flowers, it´´s better to look them, smell them and take some nice pictures as you...This way flowers are forever.
Happy rainy days.
I can almost smell them from here!
ReplyDeleteSpringtastic!
