Sakura (桜)

Don't let that blue sky fool you, it was super chilly yesterday, top temp 16C but felt like 11C with the wind. We took a detour on the way to the city to walk through the 🌸's before they were completely over for this year. S & R Orchard has extended the season, this being the last week. To be honest I think we were a few days too late for the fabulous photo opportunities but the blossoms that were holding on were a delight. The Japanese say that the cherry blossom is a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short. A reminder to live the best life we can. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

16C, feels like 11C... does not qualify as super chilly! :)

  2. Beautiful blossoms Grace.
My daughter and I went out to a park by the river for coffee and a bit of sun before she flew out at night, but we didn't stay long as the wind was too chilly!

  5. When the Sakura festival takes place here in High Park the crowds of people are overwhelming. If you get there really early you can lose yourself in the blossoms!

  8. You are on the verge of new green, Grace. We are losing it! Love the seasons but hate letting go to summer!

  9. We have a lovely Japanese restaurant in St. Paul names Sakura, meaning cherry blossoms. I also have to smile when another meaning apparently is death and renewal. Probably not the wisest translation for a restaurant!

  10. Blossom time is so brief. Initially I was disappointed to find my Kandos garden doesn’t have an explosion of blossom all at the same time. Now I realise it is nice to have blossom running across weeks. Our cherries are among the last to flower so I little while yet.

  11. The cherry blossoms are always stunning in the spring. Good subject for photos. If you are riding that bike it will help keep you warm.

  15. The blossoms must have been beautiful in their prime. I didn't know they grew in Perth. Easier to get to than Japan.

  17. Hello Grace,
    Wonderful shots. Nice blossoms.
The last hot days of the summer. Today it will be 25 degrees in the Netherlands.

  22. Good season comes!
(Maybe, these trees are not cherry but 'Ume' Japanese Apricot - Prunus mume or 'Peach' - Amygdalus persica.) ;)
