Masks in the city..

I know in many parts of the world masks have been part of everyday life for a long time now but for WA it's all a bit new. Up until our five day lockdown last week we have been lucky, through clear government decisions, to live a normal life, albeit with sensible distancing and much hand washing. The five day lockdown was seen by some states as an overreaction but the majority of West Australians were fine with it and already it is over and businesses up and running again. We will wear masks until Sunday the 14th February and providing there are no new cases life will return to normal. Was pleased to see 99.9% of people in the city yesterday wearing a mask, I tried to capture a wide age range..

Spotted the car and masked men below on St. Georges Terrace, P tells me the car is something special, I couldn't be more uninterested in cars if I tried but it's blue and I like that :) Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

  1. Dearest Grace,
Masks are nothing new for us here but we manage to walk or bike without them.
On my post you can learn how to have your always excellent and captivating 1st photo show up again on the Blog List as thumbnail... Now it doesn't, like mine didn't for quite a while with the new blogger.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  2. Our town has a mask mandate, but our state does not and has paid a terrible price for that. Only one state out of 50 has a higher Coronavirus infection rate, and the death rate is also high. Masks do work as the virus is mostly transmitted through the air.

  3. Hmmm, masks indeed are common here, Grace, but... why are there so many people in long clothes? Did you catch our weather (minus 8C) - kidding 😉 ... as in you got -8C, ... we do! Have... 🥶

  4. Masks are becoming the new fashion accessory for the world. I look at it as no different than wearing clothes. We need to wear clothes or get arrested so we also need to wear a mask to stay safe.

  5. You are lucky to have almost 'normal' as I feel like it may be a long time before we will have it here although our numbers are going down. I look forward to hugging friends and going to the local pub if it survives.

  6. Who'd have thought we'd all be wearing masks and thinking it quite normal. It'll be a while before we can do away with our masks here.

  8. It's a pretty common sight here but only inside stores and buildings. Most people outside aren't wearing them. I do and my friends do but there are a lot of people here who don't. And, we've paid the price in the numbers of cases. Your part of Australia seems to have done things right.

  9. The type and patterns on masks here have become more and more varied as time has gone on.

  11. Masks are a common part of life here in Kentucky. I teach in one all day long. Our young students are required to wear one all day, except for eating. In our community though, I would say a lot of adults don't want to comply with a mask mandate, so the virus persists here.

  15. Yes, it seems masks are here to stay for us anyway for a very long time. I'm actually wearing a mask more than not, it feels like. But it's necessary, and I'll do whatever it takes! Your photos of your city are so lovely, always.

I read about your masks on the news.... you'll soon be back to normal.

  17. The mask enforcement is a good thing and will definitely slow down the cases. Lack of enforcement in the US is the reason why their numbers and deaths continue to soar. Here in Saudi there is a hefty fine for no mask, and the government has recently shut down restaurants again and we are not allowed into businesses unless we show a health app on our phone that shows if we've been vaccinated or tested for the virus. The strictness is a good thing, for everyone's sake.
