'I'm not addicted to reading..
I can quit as soon as
I finish one more chapter!'
They say what goes around comes around. Over the last few days I've been reading about an 'idea' that's going around at the moment, 'the four gift Christmas challenge.' Have a look. Seriously! Back when my mum and dad were young parents and money wasn't as free flowing, credit cards unheard of, the four gift Christmas was a necessity not a challenge and yet I look back on childhood Christmases with the fondest of memories, it was the most exciting time, and there was always a book.. bliss! I thank Santa, aka mum and dad, for igniting my passion for reading that continues with 💙today. When I see bookshops such as Elizabeth's Bookshop extra busy at this time of the year it makes me happy :) Have a wonderful Wednesday, take care and stay safe..
Who can possibly pass up a bookstore? :)
ReplyDeleteSo nice
ReplyDeleteThat four gift idea is perfect! And, I'm with you on the book store. Time spent reading is time well spent.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that Cambridge has plenty of is bookshops - both new and second-hand. I find it very odd when I go to some towns and find so few.
ReplyDeleteI can get lost in a book shop they are wonderful places, although I have to admit being in France where it is not easy to get English books I read my kindle most of the time! My folks also always bought me a book for Christmas, I do not understand people who do not read!! Keep well Diane
ReplyDeleteI always got a book at Christmas too, Grace. I often check ahead in a book to see how long the next chapter is and decide whether I should read it before going to sleep at night. That can go on for a few chapters!
ReplyDeleteBookstores are the best, I just love them. :)
ReplyDeleteAs my grandfather said to me once, you will never be bored if you like reading. We've been a a few bookshops here of late and they are crazily busy.
ReplyDelete...Christmas gift giving has gotten out of hand!
ReplyDeleteThe four gift challenge seems pretty much the formula Mum and Dad applied when we were kids. Now my husband and I buy only books for Christmas. In November we raid our favourite bookshops (and buy more than 4 each I must admit). Then I wrap them up and put them under the tree, no cheating by reading before Christmas. The anticipation of a good read on Christmas day is almost as exciting as being a kid again.
ReplyDeleteThat´s a great concept indeed, Grace!
ReplyDeleteI still remember how my oldest Niece at age 3 or 4 got very excited over underwear :-)
yes I quite agree about the books, I'm reading one about the biography about stevie nicks at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading.
ReplyDeleteCool,i love reading!ew :)
ReplyDeleteNão resisto a entrar numa livraria.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

Bookshops are the best. Now, to thrive they have to really be mindful of attracting customers, like by hosting author and community events.
ReplyDeleteI like the four gift challenge. My post today hints at being mindful of overconsumption.

I love bookshops, either used or new, it doesn't matter. One afternoon around Christmas we are going to the local bookshop and the grandies are going to choose whatever book they want and I'm paying!
ReplyDeleteThe quantity doesn't count, it is the quality and love that come from the present and the person that is giving it to you. Bookshops I can't pass without going in! :)
ReplyDeleteI love bookshops and reading and this year I bought books for all the kids that I give gifts to. Hope they like them too :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, I read many many books. Now I'm reading them again and loving it!
ReplyDeleteBooks and travel - love them!
ReplyDeleteWe always belonged to one book club or another when I was young. A book was always arriving in the mail, including ones from the Nancy Drew Book Club.
ReplyDeleteI like the four gift challenge. This year we've decided to focus on experiences rather than stuff. Music gift cards. A special meal out. Maybe a trip.
