Lionfish.. spreading the poison.

If I told you that I'd taken these shots of the venomous Lionfish whilst diving in the Indian Ocean would you believe me? You wouldn't! Really! Surely that can't be the most unbelievable thing you've heard lately :) You would be right, this spiky showoff giving me the 'oh sure you're brave when I'm stuck in here' look is best observed behind glass, seen here at AQWA. The Lionfish native to the Indo-Pacific, popular in home aquariums but dumped wherever by irresponsible owners is now invading and upsetting the native fish and environment in waters around the world, what can I say.. unbelievable! Have a fab weekend, take care and stay safe...

  2. They're beautiful and pretty to look at. It's too bad that they are invading native fish environments around the world.

  8. Wow, you captured two amazing shots of this creature from the deep. However you didn't fool me. I knew you didn't go diving. ;-) And I've heard way too many unbelievable things lately. After all, we have to contend with Donald Trump.

  9. It's a bit of a queer fish, for sure. Given you aren't keen on berth being on water, I thought maybe you liked being underwater instead.

  13. Not a chance. You have a phobia about the deep, if I recall correctly.

The spines on these things are poisonous, aren't they? I'd stay way clear.

  15. It is a shame he shows its beauty only under water. Sorry for him to be in an aquarium but now we can see all the beautiful colours without getting wet.
