A church for Sunday.....!

We went to Leederville on Friday for two reasons, one to scout for a 'people watching' shot and two to check out a sculpture that I'd heard about. Walking up Oxford St. (for miles!) I caught this glimpse above through the trees and after finding and taking shots of my 'objective' (show you tomorrow) we detoured back along Franklin St. to catch a better look at St. Mary's Parish established in 1919, restored, extended  and reopened in 1938, I've heard that the windows are a delight from the inside, unfortunately the church was locked so a return trip is definitely on the cards. It started to rain (splotch marks on photo below) so the return trip was more like a sprint than a walk, exhilarating!!I hope that your weekend is going well, take care.....

  2. Churches make great subjects! Too bad that, like everywhere, it was looked - they never used to be, just another sign of the times.

  3. I particularly like the 1st shot through the trees, Grace. It is sunny and going up to 27˚C here today - perfect.

  7. That's a fine-looking building, especially like the shot through the trees; those kind of shots don't usually work for me but here the colour and the clean lines of the church seem to have held it together.

  10. Love the red brick with pristine white trim on this nearly 100-year-old church. The subtle view of the first shot is lovely and thank you for risking a drenching to get these shots!

  13. Voilà une très jolie église en briques rouges! En France, elles se situent surtout, comme les maisons, dans la partie nord du pays.
    Bon dimanche, Gracie!

  18. We have a church here in St. Pete Florida that is almost a twin to that one! One of my projects I always wanted to do was capturing the interiors of old churches with their stained glass windows!

  19. This reminds me of a church from my youth. There is something traditional about a large brick church.

  20. Ooh, love them all but especially that first glimpse through the branches. It is a very good looking brick church, and you are brave to attempt photos in the rain!
