It's all about the sky.....

Because it ain't about the building (excuse my bad English!!). Which is not really fair I guess as I haven't given you a full front on view of Parliament House . Let me explain a little, when it was decided to build Parliament House on the hill overlooking St. Georges Terrace (knocking down the old army barracks for the view of the terrace, which was foiled anyway because they had to leave the Barracks Arch in tact, see a few posts back) an Australia wide competition was held to pick the design, all were ignored and the design went to the Public Works Department!! Well that says it all moi thinks!! Still the pollies have to gather somewhere so this building might be quite fitting after all!! I did rather like the sky though, hope you do too!   p.s. I'm sure there will be a lovely image of Parliament House somewhere on Google.

  1. Haha! I'm not going to google for a full-frontal of WA's parliament house - I'd much rather look at it as a foil to the wonderful sky you've captured!!

Thanx so much for following my blog - I look forward to your return visits!!

  2. Yes, the sky is beautiful and dramatic. Nice process the government used to build this building.

  5. To be fair I think the back entrance is maybe slightly more attractive, although when it was opened in 1904 The West Australian newspaper described the Council Chamber as "between the general appearance of the Chamber and that of a glorified saloon".. they should have perhaps kept the old army barracks and modified them haha!

  7. Beautiful shot Mamma! A dramatic sky makes all the difference to an undramatic building

  8. Very dramatic shot- and a sad but familiar tale of public opinion being ignored...

  11. Hello to you in Perth! Glad to meet you and your really nice blog (I went back to day one and caught up on all I've missed).

An Aussie friend recently moved to near Perth. But now I realize that I knew nothing of how it looks there. So glad you are posting.
