Flat tires and fiesty falcons..

Can you believe there was one nail on the road and as I was driving I went over it! While we were waiting for a new tire for my car to arrive we had two equal distance options.. a shopping centre or a walk around a nature reserve, which would you have picked? In my minimalist period :) I'm not much of a shopper so Lake Joondalup it was. The Australian hobby, a small but aggressive falcon was very high up scanning the lake to see what was on the lunch menu, below he spotted it.. a dragon fly, P got an excellent shot of it in its beak as it swooped back up.. I didn't :)

Sitting quietly below an Australian ringneck so named because of the characteristic bright yellow ring around the hindneck.. I don't spot the ringneck all that often so will always try to get a shot, not the best but it gives you some idea of the vibrant colours. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

  11. I like these bird shots Grace. They are hard to capture but sometimes you can get lucky. I don't have a big bird lens so I take what I can get. You never know :)

  12. If I was the Ringneck, I too would be sitting quietly below while the falcon dealt with its prey.

  16. Sorry about the tyre, but maybe it was worth it to see the hobby! Nature reserve would take priority over a shopping centre any day :-))))) Keep well Diane

  19. It's pretty amazing that you can just take a walk in the woods and come upon so many beautiful and exotic creatures and then photography them so well! In fact, I'd say you "nailed" it!
