Feel the wind in your hair!

I haven't taken the ferry from South Perth over to the city since Elizabeth Quay opened in January this year.. so join me as we await the arrival of the ferry from the CBD. The ferry goes back and forth every half hour and the trip takes approximately 8 minutes..

I fibbed about the wind in your hair :) the  Transperth ferry is fully enclosed.. you can probably open the windows we just didn't think to do so!

Coming into the harbour under the new bridge..

Arriving at the new ferry port in Elizabeth Quay..

Looking back as passengers board for the return journey to the south side of the river, at this time of the morning it's quite likely that they are heading for the Perth Zoo. I wonder if the captain ferry driver (?) ever feels like rebelling and zig-zagging off up the Swan River :) Happy Friday, take care and stay safe....

  1. I like the look of the ferry- though it must be monotonous for the pilot to be going back and forth endlessly.

  3. Hi Grace, love the blog photo...and loved the ferry ride. Let's see when was my last ferry ride...probably in the 1980s...not much chance for ferry rides in Arizona :) There are some ferry rides here where I live in FL but I've yet to go on one...I'm just a sad excuse for a human being...I know :D :D :D I'm going to try to visit you here more often...kind of going off of Facebook ...again!!! I really get to enjoy your photos here, happy day to you, Theanne

  4. Thanks for the wonderful ferry ride. I haven't been on a ferry for decades. Took the ferry at Woods Hole, MA and went to to Martha's Vineyard. We have a ferry about 4km from here in Greencastle and it goes across Lough Foyle, a 15 minute crossing. We haven't been on it yet but plan to go before the weather gets winterish.

  5. Our ferries to the Toronto Islands take about 10 minutes but they are double deckers and are mostly open air so you do have the wind in your hair. And it isn't too scary because you are never far from a shore of some kind!

  6. Lovely harbor shots from the ferry. I love riding ferries. Perhaps if I had to do it daily I might tire of them, but I always look forward to getting out on the water. Got a great ferry ride in Seattle this August.

  17. I always like a ferry tour over the water, indeed with the winds in your hair! And the other side of the city slowly coming closer.

  18. Grace, you should be getting paid to do this by the tourism bureau in Perth. You make your city look so inviting!

  19. I remember 2006 when on the way to said zoo I saw a dolphin very close nearby after we docked. Sweet memories, Grace.

  23. Love the design of the roof on the ferry port - most appealing shape and blue tone. And the ferry is so cute.
