Separated in time by over a century these two libraries could not be more different in design.. you can see the Jubilee Building here, home to the WA Museum Library above completed in 1899 and below the newest addition to the CBD the City of Perth Library opened in March this year. Although architecturally poles apart they do have one thing in common.. they both have outstanding features that draw the eye up to their spectacular ceiling detail.. in the old museum library it's the structural design..
... and in the new library it's the magical mural "Delight and Hurt Not' by WA artist Andrew Nicholls.. a work of whimsy that is well worth the awkward position one has to attain to capture the whole scene :) The theme for CDP'ers couldn't be more appropriate for me personally.. if there was a gold medal in reading I would have been victorious.. maybe the silver for gardening, the garden would have pipped me for the gold :) Equilibrium restored I'm happy to be back and look forward to catching up over the next few days. It's officially the first day of spring here in Australia, it's all good! Happy 1st of September, take care and stay safe...

ReplyDeleteHowever that new top picture made me fall backwards of my seat!
Look forward to tomorrows, when September arrives.
Back with a bang! I love your new header and the library is just so spectacular,
ReplyDeleteYou're back!
ReplyDeleteYour new banner is terrific. Tell us a little bit about it. I love both libraries you featured, each outstanding in their own way!
ReplyDeleteI am pleased we made the small effort to see the City Library. Were you lying on the floor on your back to that photo? I am afraid though that the Museum Library will outlast the City Library.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back, Grace! I remember both of these libraries when you have shown them before. Love that mural!
ReplyDeleteLike your new title shot. Looks great. That is an impressive new library building.

ReplyDeleteBoth libraries are beautiful.
Welcome back :) Awesome pics.
ReplyDeleteGreetings.
Great to see you back Grace and with a very bright new header! A library is always close to my heart as I worked for 25 years in one. You have some very nice ones there. I like both the old and the new one. The old one always has some historical atmosphere, but a new one surprises me always as it can look so different.
ReplyDeleteHope you have found the spirit back for blogging, take care and take it easy.
Love, Marianne
Good to have YOU back again!
